Cool, another chance for me to ask if he wants to venture into doing a instruction DVD where he teaches viewers on how to play all the guitar parts of the next DT album.

Generally it helps to get a big list together for these things, and then compile them all into one comment we all upvote. Anyone want to work together for coming up with a list?

Here's a question I would find really interesting:

"Looking back on the albums you released with DT, how much has your own feeling about an album coincided with the public's reception of it? Did you expect Scenes to do well? (or conversely, another album not to do so well?)"

I want to ask if he had any interest in getting together with Zakk Wylde and having a guitar battle an arm wrestling match. And post a video of it.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I don't know why anybody would even waste time asking a question like that.  You know he is gonna give an evasive, respectful, PC answer, so why bother?

Have you considered getting someone really renown for producing great sounding records, like Steven Wilson, to mix and master one of your records? I love all your music but I've always thought it would sound even better with a great producer at the helm.

Dream theater has worked with outside producers before and it is a lot of fun, working with Kevin Shirley was great. Having said that my beard and I have really enjoyed our role as the band's producers over the years and plan on continuing that.

One of the funniest things that has recently happened - we were depicted as cartoon ducks in a Disney Italian comic book. I think they called us "Duck Theater" or something along those lines. I never thought we'd fit the bill!

"Wither" is actually a song about nothing. The inspiration for the lyrics came from talking to my wife about the Seinfeld episode when they speak about a show about nothing. It morphed it's way into the struggle you face staring at a blank page as a writer and knowing where to take it.

Yeah, he didn't answer anything Portnoy-related but there is a lot of insightful stuff to be read. I enjoyed reading about how he keeps focus on stage, his willingness to do a soundtrack in the future, and the fact that he's a Disney fan.

Hmm.. wants to do a soundtrack.. Disney fan.. are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?
