Listening now. Great start though never was a fan of the funky metal stuff, Extreme and that one great Electric Boys album.
Seems I liked the Anthrax more than you but I probably didn't listen to anywhere near as much stuff as you last year . You are my hero.

And where you living to have such shit internet? Under Ayers Rock?

Where are you living to have such weird emoticons ?  ;D

It very much does depend on where you live.  Up until 2015 I was in an area with cable TV , which means fast internet.  Now I am in an area without cable (we can get cable TV stations via satellite) and so it's copper wire (old phone line) based ADSL which has cut my speed by 90% or more.   And then upload speeds are another degree slower.   I have a mobile internet modem that I can use at 10-20 times the speed of my hard line , only issue is the data is super expensive.

Stupid thing is that a few kms around the corner they have fibre based internet , but that's only in small pockets and successive governments have ballsed up the rollout.

On a cricketing note Paul , today Ben and I met and had a chat to Bill Lawry at Ben's cricket club - ex Aussie captain and I assume you know him as a commentator.  Got a photo or two with the great man.

Nice. Seems like a decent bloke.

As per usual we appreciate any feedback , particularly for these themed/best of shows as they take many, many times longer to  research/prepare than a regular show where I just pick semi-random stuff from my collection.   Once I finish the other 2016 show that'll be it for these themed shows till late in the year.  I may work on a Best of 1989 in the background during the year , just as I did for 1988 last year - just depends if I can find the time and motivation as the research is pretty time consuming .  It's a bit of a labour of love though so I normally find an excuse.  :)

A 9 hour show?? Wow! Thank you Ben! And Brent. I had to delete Shadow Gallery and Symphony X just to get it on my iPod! :lol

A 1989 show would be awesome! Gary Moore, Armored Saint, Alice Cooper, Metal Church, Tesla....

I didn't realise that anyone used the online player........cool.

I believe you're referring to Tygers of Pan Tang - Only The Brave

I bought that album too 😁 Need to play it more. I'll need the full list as there's some good stuff here.

Love the Syu track. His playing just makes me laugh, in a good way. Galneryus are just mental 🤘🤘

1.2 GB and a nine hour show, bloody hell.  Might take me a while to get through.

Is it just me, or does it seem really light on for releases for the first quarter of 2017?  Last year there seemed to be a new album every week that would warrant me checking out or buying but this year, things are starting off really slow.

Yup - will get a list up for you once a few of you are through it.   The list is another GB  ;D

I'm listening along with you (again) ...... I'm really enjoying a whole year (almost) in one show .

Very solid Tim - plenty of Helloween-isms in there too.     You may have recommended it to me.  I think I posted up their previous album (Sign Of The Winner) and you might have suggested this one is better and I would agree. It's been on my list of albums to get to for months.  Rated it 87% and there's enough going on that it may grow a bit more if I had the time to replay a few times.

Hopefully he can have an extended break.  I'm pretty sure he's involved in a couple of Frontier albums coming up, I just haven't taken much notice.

The Wardrum track is really interesting. I like it!

The track with JR was awesome!

I checked that Trees Of Eternity earlier this year. It's a unique album.

Indeed. Guitar playing too, it just doesn't look right. There are some good players out there in Internet land but there's something not right about it.

I'm through almost 2 hours of the show so far . . .

I love Pornograffiti - such a great album.

Surprised that Wolverine track made it through, same with the Universal Mind Project, but for completely different reasons.  But you did say you were going for some diversity.  I remember sampling some of that UMP album when it was released but I didn't find much to interest me.

I really like that Tygers album.

Wolverine are considered prog metal (although as I said , not very metallic)  - it just happens that my favourite track was a pretty soft one and I do like to use soft tracks/ballads here and there to change things up.  If you're referring to the Wolverine being rubbish , then I obviously disagree.  :)

Wait "til you get to the letter "L" for things that shouldn't have got through :lol

me neither

I was going to say that maybe it's a guitarist thing......I know that I often appreciate bands with a great guitarist more than so than someone who has never played.......but then Chad had them in his Top 50 too , so that disproves that rule.

Great band though IMHO and just another example of how similar and different our tastes are at the same time.  That's why some of these shows get long because I know that if I just went with my absolute favourites that you guys would likely miss out on the ones that will be yours.  And everyones tend to be different of course.   All I try and do is act as some sort of quality filter , some might say with limited success at times :lol

The next one should be around 4 hrs actually..........maybe longer if I decide to add a bonus super duper live show that I have been meaning to use,.

I won't!

They are a great band and had built a great club following around here in the early 80's. But they just don't seem to translate to studio releases. That Presidents song is pretty good, but they just sound so dry. I've heard Pornograffiti and III Sides and it just doesn't grab me. Not my thing, I guess.

I had a listen to half of that Heavenly album Dust to Dust and didn't do much for me again.  Solid power metal but that's about it.  I might try it again though as it could have potential.  LOTS of Gamma Ray similarities going on though.
