Have you ever misheard some lyrics and enjoyed them but then later on heard or read the actual
lyric and been disappointed or preferred the misheard lyric to the actual one? I'll give an example
I've been absolutely loving Paradise Lost by Symphony X and the song Domination is brutal as fuck.
The lyric below
"Break the chains around your necks
Lick your wounds, you dogs of war
Raise your badness ever high
And ravage the Babylon horde"
and
"Oh, go and turn the waters red with rage
Burn all the Earth shore to shore
Open wide the gates of hell
Defile the Babylon horde"
I misheard "Babylon horde" as "Babylon whore", which I actual preferred. Not because I prefer
my whores beaten but because I thought it suits the mentality of the song more.
Here is a song that is describing the brutality that is being blanketed over the Babylonians
and the pure hatred the attackers have for them. I thought it was fitting for the attackers
to call the city of Babylon a whore. Whore is oft thought of as a very derogatory term, and
it's very likely that an attacker full of hate would call the victim any and every name they
could think of, whether it be out of hate or trying to justify the onslaught. Too me the song
misses some blunt reality by having horde instead of horde
Are there any misheard lyrics that you guys prefer?
