I'm not trying to reach a certain amount of books each year, it's just that there are so many books that I want to read that I'm a little envious of those who have more time for reading.

I also read a lot of books in english (german is my native tongue) and that probably slows me down. And I have about an hour and a half commute to and from work, but I'm driving, so no reading. But on the other hand more often than not that's the only time I can listen to music.

Reading at work is an idea, I only have to convince my boss.  ;D

Oh yeah. I've got about fifteen books on my shelves that I haven't read yet, and I've got like 40+ books on the list I'd like to buy. That's definitely a problem.

I average thirty a year. When I finish Darkness, Take My Hand and Inferno, I'll have reached my average, so I'm hoping to get around thirty-five read this year. I'm a bookworm and a writer, so I have to be a persistent reader if I want to be a good writer.

Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith (J.K Rowling)

Nice one. My ranking for these three is The Silkworm > Career of Evil > The Cuckoo's Calling. I'm definitely getting Lethal White when it's released.

Same. I don't buy many books due to the lack of space to put them but this series is a must own for me.

I love the Galbraith series. Did anyone see the tv show? It won't air in the US until middle of 2018 I believe.

About to dive into Sleeping Beauties by Stephen and Owen King. I'm wondering if a lot of it will actually be Stephen's work, or did he just tack his name on his son's work to help him get recognition like James Patterson does with all those YA novels he supposedly writes?

Finished TWoK and WoR a few months ago and eagerly awaiting this release. Amazon says it'll be on my doorstep somewhere between 16th and 20th of November. I can't wait.

Would be great to discuss it with fellow DTF-ers after we all had time to devour this upcoming monster of a book.

For the most part, it's hard to tell who wrote what---which I guess is a good thing, considering it makes the book flow. However, there are parts where when I was reading, I knew it was a passage Stephen wrote because I know his style so well. As for the book itself, it was all right. It didn't have to be 700 pages, though. It really starts to drag past page 300 or so, but picks up later on. An editor really should have kicked the Kings in the butt for this book because somewhere in this 700-page tome, there's a really god 400- or 450-page novel. Like I said a few pags back (or, at least, I think I did), something like It, The Stand, or Needful Things had to be long to cover a ot of ground. There wasn't a lot of ground to cover in this book, but the Kings were determined to have it go on forever. What's even funnier is that apparently the book was supposed to be even longer than it is already.

I'm also looking really forward to getting Oathbringer. Not sure when I will actually get around to reading it though - I've just started this:

and it's the first book of a trilogy. Bad timing on my part.

My copy of Oathbringer will apparently arrive at Friday.

Meanwhile, I'm having a total blast reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. I've got about 50 pages left and this is probably the most enjoyable fantasy book I've read this year. I've purchased this based solely on the blurb and the beautiful cover and, holy shit, this book exceeded my expectations by a mile.

Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.  I'm not really sure what to think of this book.  I enjoy the ridiculous vignettes of the characters, and the 3-page chapters make it easy to read.  I don't know much about Vonnegut, but I have read that this book is supposed to convey the idea that nothing ultimately matters, and that he dislikes the traditional protagonist-as-hero/antihero story.

I remember liking Slaughterhouse Five when I read it in high school but I don't remember the story. I've added it back to my want-to-read list. I think that is the only Vonnegut I've read.

Had to DNF that last one. I think the writing was too dry for my tastes or not enough action taking place. Anyway, on to The Bloody Red Baron by Kim Newman. Loved the first book, so I'm expecting good things

Kim Newman has done it again, The Bloody Red Baron was great. I'll probably get to Dracula Cha-Cha-Cha in the next few weeks. Until then, switching up gears big time with The Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem

The Cartel by Don Winslow. Obviously a fictional story, but if only half of that is and was going on in Mexico that is some serious shit.

I'm about to crack open the first book of Branden Sanderson's Stormlight Archives series, called The Way of Kings. I've been holding onto it for a couple years waiting for the third to be released but I'm bored.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.
