Stephen King's The Outsider.
Just finished this one as well. My one sentence review of almost every King book, including this one: "A fun read, but about 200 pages too long"

I'd agree with that. King's famous 'diarrhea of the word'. Pretty awesome premise though.

Wizard and Glass.

Probably gonna skip the first 100 pages, though, and go directly to the W&G part. I fancy a good riddle as much as the next fellow, but it drags out a bit much.

NO DON'T DO IT!!!

Just finished Watchmen (second reading). Think I enjoyed it more this time around, might have benefited from seeing the movie, which I found quite enjoyable. Still don't get the fascination. Certainly not "The greatest piece of popular fiction ever produced" according to Damon Lindelof as noted on the back. I don't even think it is his best work. I'd consider From Hell his masterpiece.

In keeping with the last book, I have never read any Doctor Who fiction, so I thought I'd start with something set with my favorite Doctor (Ten) during my favorite era (fourth season) with Beautiful Chaos by Gary Russell

Finally finished The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I must say, the last hundred of pages were actually alright, but the first ~400 pages of the book were a slog.

on The Magicians, the rest of the trilogy is better

I'm going to trust your word and try the second book then, we'll see if I can finish this one...

The Magician King by Lev Grossman

Unfortunately I couldn't get interested in the story, for as short as it was. I was a bit disappointed in myself

Anyway, new month, new opportunities. Now reading A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe

Finally on Lehane again, Prayers for the Rain from Kenzie and Gennaro series. A bit over the top but actually my second favorite after Darkness, Take My Hand. Still another 50 pages to go, it's fun as always.

Wolves of the Calla

I was going to wait a day or two for my french copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to arrive, but the thought of going book-less for even a couple days made me cringe.

Is that the version where Harry and his friends surrender and let Voldemort take over?  :D

Changed my mind (as I usually do) and decided instead to read Sufficiently Advanced Magic by Andrew Rowe. Heard pretty good things about this

About two-thirds done with Thrawn: Alliances by Timothy Zahn.

Enjoying it quite a bit, but not a fan of the time jumping he needs to do to make the book work. I get why he is doing it, and I am enjoying the story, but structuring it that way isn't a good thing.

I thought The Outsider was pretty good. It took me a long time to finish it because school and several other things slowed down my progress. I will read it again at a later time when my life isn't as chatotic and I will hopefully enjoy it even more. I did like it, however.

The last book I read was The Old Man and the Sea, by Ernest Hemingway. Reading The Almost Moon, by Alice Sebold right now.

The Outsider was a very solid read, much better than Sleeping Beauties, but I thought End of Watch was better

Finished The Magician King by Lev Grossman and I can certainly say this is not for me at all. It was slightly better than the first book because at least there was a cohesive plot (or even two), but I don't think I can take handle another novel of this. It really doesn't help that Quentin pretty much pisses me off. :lol

I may one day read The Magician's Land because I already have a copy of that, but definitely not now. Although, looking at the goodreads rating, apparently that's the best of them.

Not sure what I'm reading next, probably will go to a bookstore this week and pick some books I've never heard of before based on cover art and blurbs, and we'll see how it goes.

I've decided to go through the Harry Potter books for the first time. I've seen the movies before, but everyone says that the books are better (and so far I agree, although the movies are great too).

So my strategy is to read a book and then watch the movie adaptation of it when finished. And repeat with the other books/movies. I've only just started, so I'm on book 2 at the moment.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Just finished Thrawn: Allegiances by Timothy Zahn.

Good insight into the relationship between Thrawn and Vader/Anakin. Worth a read, although it is a little choppy due to jumping between two distinct time periods.
