I still need to finish up Smart Baseball by Keith Law but I'm going to move on to Infinite Jest. It's been sitting imposingly on my shelf like The Bible but I can't wait to start it.

The Bone Season, The Mime Order, The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon she is at The Victorian Writer's Festival next weekend trying to get them read before then.
They are part of a 7 book series, the movie rights have already been sold, so far, I am enjoying it, as it is quite different.

For those who have seen the movie "The Room" and are interested in how a mess as big as that could be made you should really read "The Disaster Artist"

Me too! I have no clue how long it's gonna take me to do it. I've heard it's a challenging one to read.

Currently reading The Judging Eye by R. Scott Bakker.

Pretty much everything I read is just killing time for when Martin finally finishes A Song of Ice and Fire. Read the first 3 books 14 years ago and decided to wait until they were all finished. Still waiting :(

Reading a lot of Agatha Christine's work lately. Last book I read was The murder of Roger Ackroyd, great stuff, along with Orient Express my favorite Poirot novel. Next is The mystery of the blue train :azn:

I love me some Agatha Christie. The perfect marriage of, brilliant storytelling, plot construction, whodunit-ness, and Strunk and White's Rule #13. And of course one of the best fictional characters ever conceived. And the first fictional character to receive an obituary notice in the NY Times.

So, Pyramids was easily my least favorite Discworld novel to date.

Picked up a few Agatha Christie's at a charity garage sale last week, so next up is The A.B.C Murders. This will be my first foray into Christie's work outside of studying  And Then There Were None (not a fan of the other racist titles) in school.

Finally have more time to dig into The Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski. Fascinating book.
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness (Susannah Cahalan, 2012)

and Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder(Linehan, 1993)

I was away from reading for a long time, and I was dreged in the second book. It is basically a textbook, and it has been a slow prod for lots of reasons. So I added in the first book to liven up reading, and it has helped me get back into the swing.

Like I said a few posts ago, I started Infinite Jest a week ago and am about 60 pages in, but man is it gonna be a journey. So I'm reading something in between reading that, I think I'm gonna start A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

That's a pretty old one. He has really gone away from this horror aspect of his writing. If I remember right it was one of his good ones.

With this year being the centennial of the Russian revolution, I wanted to read a few books from now to the end of the year dealing with the subject, so I'm starting with Nicholas and Alexandra by Robert Masie

Reacher said Nothing by Andy Martin.
This book is about the author sitting behind Lee Child during the writing of 'Make Me'.
I met the author last week in Melbourne, where he had a chat to my book club about the process of writing the book.
I love the idea of this book, and speaking to him afterward where he signed my book was great.
He wasn't leaning on his shoulder, it was from a distance, but there was months of writing before Lee Child had any idea what the book would be.
There will be a follow up, as he later joined Lee Child around the world for his signings.
He also mentioned Lee Child will tour Australia next year... which is great news...
I am currently only a few chapters in, but it is really interesting.

That might be an interesting read. I'm a big Lee Child fan, but I found that Make Me had a couple glaring plot holes so it would be interesting to see if those are explored at all in a 'behind the scenes' look at how the book came together. Still really looking forward to Midnight Line in November. I don't usually buy a book in hardcover, but I doubt I'll be able to wait on that one.

I started double reading again (i.e. different book at home v.s. on the train/lunch at work), so I'm working through The Dark Tower series again for fun. Finished Gunslinger yesterday, and now I'm a good way into The Drawing of the Three. Gunslinger was better the first time through, although maybe it's because I read the original version this time and the revised the first time. Really enjoying DT2 on this read through, despite only being lukewarm on the novel the first time around.

^^^There was the question whether him being there had an effect on the writing. I am a big fan still, but I have not read No Middle Name or Night School yet, and that may be for the reasons you mention above.

Over the Summer Holidays, I plan to read all The Dark Tower Series...I would love to read all The GOT books as well, but that might be too much.

So many books to read and so little time!  ::)

Well, Night School was fairly mediocre so you're not really missing out  there  ;)
