That looks awesome  :metal

I hear that next year they will be requiring visitors to preregister so they can give you a time to enter the park and tell you how long you can stay! I understand Devil's Garden has become a nightmare.

Yea, I've read a lot of the national parks are having issues with too many people and not only are they likely to raise the price of entry, the busier parks will need reservations to enter.  Really kind of stinks, but I guess it's part of defunding the park systems and the current high appeal of going to them.
The numbers I saw made visiting the popular parks cost prohibitive for a lot of people. As much as I enjoy the place, $70 to get into RMNP, on top of the camping fees, would be pretty tough to swallow. Would you have paid $70 just for your drive up Trail Ridge Rd?

I think we paid $50, maybe $60, for a 7 day car pass that included both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park a couple of years ago. For a family on vacation from Massachusetts, I thought that was very reasonable.

We always buy an annual pass to all National Parks for $80.00 that gets you into all of them.

And that's what will happen when they raise the prices. They're confident that most people will only hit one per year so it'll work out in the long run.

Yeah, I get that. I also get that my situation is different because I live so close to multiple parks. We generally visit at least two parks per year and as many as four.

I would have for the one time experience, but I'm probably not coming back solo at that price.

But this is what I'd do at the end of the day, my girlfriend has one that we've used for a combined 6 parks to see this year.

Thanks, guys!

:tup :tup

How were the crowds? I haven't been to Arches in a few years but it wasn't too bad in October when I went. I'm guessing that November is even less crowded.

I hear that next year they will be requiring visitors to preregister so they can give you a time to enter the park and tell you how long you can stay! I understand Devil's Garden has become a nightmare.

We were there twice this past weekend - once with my parents, then two days later on our own in the early morning. The first day, we got there around 11:15. The line to get in took about 30-35 minutes to get through, but the crowds weren’t horrible once inside the park. Parking was definitely full at most spots, but you could still find a space or two at all areas. The next time, no one was there at the entrance, and the amount of hikers at Delicate Arch was comparatively extremely light (the benefit of going on Sunday morning in Utah, and in late November). And what hikers were there at the arch were very considerate, taking their pictures and getting immediately out of the way.

With the amount of people it sounds Arches has been getting, the reservation system seems, I dunno, like an unenforceable pipe dream? I’d wonder if a shuttle system would be more beneficial much like what Zion, Yosemite, Rocky Mountain, etc. use, but maybe there’s not enough space to build a parking lot to support the volume.

My wife and I have used an annual pass for each of the last three years, and hot damn if we are going to be spending that much money on it and not getting our use out of it... Definitely worth it with the amount of parks we like to hit (and with visiting Crater Lake 1-2 times a year as well since it’s only two hours away from us).

Yeah, it's literally a 35 year old picture. We were having a High n Dry discussion in the other thread, and I remembered that picture that was in a scrapbook my mother had made for me.

As far as the Rush shirt, my brother really wasn't a fan, although at that time, I was a huge one. We each got a Rush iron on decal shirt.

My thoughts...
Well, in 1994 I was in a band called Prime Element. We were the most popular act in our city at the time. We opened for bands like Joan Jett, Yngwie Malmsteen, Skid Row, Warrant, and others. So I thought I was the shit. The look is me thinking I'm cool I would think. Seems like yesterday, yet light years ago.
