This idea popped into my head on the way home, and it seemed like a good idea.

So, DTF, let's once and for all decide the best epics of all time by vote. Here's how it's gonna work.....

-Voting will be open between now and September 10 (I'm on vacation then and will have time to tally the votes)

-Each member may vote for up to ten songs, but no more than ten.

-Only one song per band per ballot (this is mainly to avoid a final list with four DT songs in it)

-Votes will be counted as follows.... 10 pts. for a #! vote, 9 for a #2, 8 for a #3 and so on down to 1 pt. for a #10 vote

- Final list will be made according to points, no second voting wound.

-All songs submitted will be at studio tracks of at least 18:43 in length (the length of Yes' Close to the Edge :D ) ABSOLUTY NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!

You may go back and edit your list, but do it in the original post, I'm not gonna hunt down shit. Just make an official post like so....

VOTING CLOSED, I AM COUNTING BUT VERY BUSY AT WORK
SHOULD TAKE ABOUT A WEEK

Wow, just looking at some of my library, and I didn't realise that I didn't actually have that many songs longer than 19 minutes.  :lol  Might be easier than I thought.

Is there a reason that no one has voted yet? I know we're taking our time to make our lists, but I thought someone would have jumped to it by now.

Edit: Apparently my forum time is in the wrong time zone. I thought this thread was older than it is.

I'm in.  My brother (he's a classic rock guy) told me once he had a playlist called "size matters" for all of his really long songs.  I asked him what the cutoff was.  He told me "8 minutes".

I couldn't contain my laughter.   :rollin :rollin

Will post my list later.

It's extremely rare for a song of this length to get top marks from me - the only two in my iTunes ratings that do are:

Symphony X : The Odyssey
Dream Theater: Illumination Theory

Is this allowed? It's technically more than one track.
