New SlipKnot Single and Album Thread.

Pretty underwhelming song tbh. Was hoping for something a bit more brutal. Sounds a bit weak and run of the mill.

I don't want this to turn into a Slipknot bashing thing, but didn't their brutality stop after Iowa? I did lose interest after Subliminal Verses, but overall they were getting softer, and the most recent album was kinda bleh. I'm not a huge fan though, I think the first three albums are fine, but nothing I've returned to.

Ironically I prefer Volume 3 and All Hope Is Gone to the first two albums but Corey said the new album would be as heavy as IOWA just with more positive lyrics.

Now - I don't really care how heavy an album is - I rate music on how good it is in regards to melody and catchiness etc - heaviness be damned.

But Slipknot are one of those bands that pretty much have to be super heavy.

I was hoping for something like " Gematria " or " People = Shit " ( just without the cartoon lyrics. ).

I'll still check out the album when it arrives but this is pretty meh so far.

Wow, I'm actually pretty surprised by the brutality of this song, this has to be the heaviest they've sounded since Iowa. No clean vocals, no guitar solos, and it kinda reminds me of their debut. The funniest thing is, we still have no idea who's playing drums on this.  :lol

Don't know how you guys think it's heavy. To my ears it's their weakest sounding release since Wait and Bleed.

I would not be at all surprised if this new album was produced by Ross Robinson.

He sure does know how to get the worst performances out of people and call it " real ".

"I don't understand how you guys have a differing opinion"

The bass may be somewhat missing (I expect the bassist just followed the guitars) but the guitars are heavy and thick as fuck if you ask me.
Also Corey Taylor sounded pretty good as well.
It may not be as heavy as Iowa, and it for sure isn't as heavy as other stuff I listen to, but it definitely is heavy.

For me personally - it sounds like a demo version of the song. I might listen to it a couple more times but it's not as catchy as Psychosocial or Pulse Of The Maggots.

Pretty damn cool, should be a killer live! More importantly who is the drummer, sound really cool! Could it actually be Krimh? probably not. Heard a rumor that Jay Weinberg doing session work on the new album but from what i've heard the drums on this dosen't sound like anything he done in the past. Could be wrong though.

Can't imagine the son of Max Weinberg being any good on drums.

I had a Bruse Springsteen live DVD once and the drumming was fucking rubbish.

Didn't really impress me. It's decent enough for a Slipknot song but it's not really that memorable compared to their hits.

That wasn't half bad, and I'm not a Slipknot fan. To say it isn't heavy is just... Odd to say the least. Sounds better than any of the early stuff I've heard. More coherent, focused with actual melodies. I'd definitely prefer this to SissyKnot from 2008.

I can't stand early Slipknot. I don't even know why those albums are meant to be so heavy - they're aggressive sure, but I would say that's a different thing. The production on those albums is awful and it just makes it all sound a bit weak, to me. Whereas Vol 3 was a top notch album, and the follow up was alright but continued with the good sound.

Haven't heard the new song yet, but I hope they're carrying on in the same vein as the last couple of albums.

I thought All Hope Is Gone was decent but a bit lacking compared to the brilliant Vol. 3. I will always love that album. It was varied (catchy stuff, agressive songs, melodic songs, soft and beautiful parts etc. All with consistent quality) and sounds unique. I am not aware of a metal album that is really comparable with Vol.3.

I used to love IOWA and Slipknot a lot, but kind of grew out of it. It did interest me in the more heavy side of music in general though (together with Linkin Park, which I guess is the case for a lot of metal fans that grew up in the late 90's/early 00's).

This new song sound okay to me. Curious to hear the rest of the album. But I would like for Corey just to aim for Stone Sour if they are able to put out more albums that are comparable in quality to their latest concept double, which was amazing.

This song didn't do much for me at all.  I was a Slipknot fan up until Vol 3.  All Hope IS Gone was rubbish IMO.

The only Slipknot song I really care about is Vermillion Part 2, which I made an extended version of. Stone Sour is way better. Slipknot do have a couple decent singles though.

That whole Vol 3 album is by far their best work, that of course being a highlight.  I'd take Stone Sour also over Slipknot.  No competition really.

Volume 3 and All Hope Is Gone are far superior to both IOWA and Slipknot.

I think I prefer AHIG to Vol 3 just because the guitars and drums sound better.

Eh, Iowa is my favorite. All Hope is Gone is pretty fantastic though, and Volume 3 has some good shiznit on it.
