South American Dates - soon to be announced?
« on: July 31, 2014, 11:48:26 AM »
Some Brazilian websites have confirmed a DT Tour in the country in late September/early October, visiting Porto Alegre, Curitiba, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife and Fortaleza. The exact dates will be announced in the next couple of days. So this means the South American Tour will actually happen, although there´s a date in Japan in October!

Here´s one of the sources, in Portuguese only: https://noticias.portalbraganca.com.br/cultura/musica-turne-do-dream-theater-chega-ao-brasil-no-segundo-semestre.php

Gl.  Hope you guys get those shows there and, hopefully, the crowds looks a little more jacked up than the one that Luna Park DVD shown.

Not a surprise at all - when I spoke with JM after the Milwaukee show, I had asked specifically what tour plans were and he had mentioned they would likely be in South America in August or September. The only thing I find surprising is that the dates haven't been announced already. Typically I would expect they'd want to have tickets on sale for at least 2 or 3 months before the show.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

That surprises me as well, Scotty, after I read what you said the other time, I've been waiting for the dates to be announced but there's nothing yet... But if they announced Brazil, Argentina can't be too far, I hope.

And I think the one at Luna Park suffers from the mix more than anything else.

On ADTOE Tour, they announced officially the shows here in Brazil only 2 months before (if I remember right...). So, apparently I guess it's the correct time frame, for Brazil at least.
I live in Brasília and today the "Correio Braziliense" (the most important newspaper in my city, with a lot of credibility) announced the DT show here on october 7.   :tup :metal

I dont think DT is coming back to Guatemala, ever. We Guacamolians were great as a crowd, but overall local production was lame.

No doubt about that...South America is the best audience in the world!

So they´re playing at Vivo Rio this time...MUCH better for me, as this is much closer to where I live. But it´s a much smaller venue than the one they played in their previous visits to Rio.

I think we should wait and see... obviously a portuguese/brazilian website will announce those dates but not other South American ones. Too bad not to have any news at all, though... :-\

I've seen it happen before with other bands, but don't see the point of coming to Brazil only. Probably the other dates will be announced in the next few days.

Nekov, just to clarify, the whiplash link is for the brazilian tour, not for the South American tour.

Jesus, I hope they go to Costa Rica again. Doing that trip last time around was amazing, and the band absolutely loved the audience. JR recently said (on the small Twitter Q&A he did) that he'd love to go back because of the phenomenal audience. And I remember MM saying he had to ask his tech several times to raise the volume of his in-ear monitors because he couldn't hear a thing due to the loudness of the crowd. It was a sick concert indeed.

That's my thought - a Brazilian website isn't probably gonna care too much about the other countries DT's going to play on the same leg of the tour. Considering that they've hit several countries each time they've played South America since 2005, I can't imagine that they'd just play Brazil - I think this is one of the most extensive itineraries I've ever seen them play in Brazil alone.

Too bad they didn't go during the World Cup, that would've definetely lured me to go in a heartbeat. Porto Alegre is not that far from home...

It happens to be also really exciting, most of times (even if also really expensive in the case of Meet&Greet).

This is based on personal experience, right? Yours maybe was great, but mine was a huge letdown. I wouldn´t pay a single cent to meet these guys again.

Sure, and that's why i was confused, since you said to another person "Make sure you don´t get the Meet & Greet ticket", like your personal experiance was supposed to be the rule for every meeting with the band. I had a pleasure one, and so did lots of my friends, so i told you mine.

Recife and Fortaleza? That's odd and wonderful at the same time! Is there gonna be a real crowd in these places? I mean, rock/metal bands have no space in the northeast of Brazil!

Just got my tickets to Rio!!!! It´s an intimate venue, and the show should be great. I got the "VIP" section, which is quite exclusive. The Meet & Greet is being sold at BRL 800, which is more or less USD 400. I got mine for BRL 577, roughly USD 289.

RodrigoAltaf:
Could you please explain me exactly how did you buy the tickets to Rio?
Ive already tried in the official DT.net site but theres some error in the payment section..
And ive tried also with ingressorapido but tickets seem to be a lot cheaper there for some reason and there is no option for the VIP meet & greet...
Please help me

I bought the ticket from their website and didn't have any problems. But uf you buy them through ingressorapido, for some reason the prices are half of what I've paid!

If you want the VIP Meet & Greet, I guess you have to buy them directly from the DT official website.
