Favorite back-to-back pairing of these choices

I didn't include the first three (non-duplicate) pairings, for obvious reasons.

I'm going with the most recent two.  Not only the best pairing, but the best two albums of the six outright. :hat

I went with ADTOE & DT12 . ADTOE to me is easily the best of the bunch.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Yup. DT12 being their best since Train of Thought and ADTOE being a definite step up from the prior two.

TOT & 8VM because it contains my favorite song of all time(Octavarium), as well as the first DT album I ever heard(TOT).

I'd say Scenes From Inner Turbulence. Of what you've listed, I'd probably have to go with Trainavarium.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

ADTOE and DT12 by a lot more than a country mile.

Train and 8varium (more memorable songs imo).

Train of Thought and Octavarium, easily. My #2 and #5 albums. ADTOE is awesome and my #3, but I'm not so keen on DT12. The other option has 2 albums from the lower half of their discography.

Option 3, based on the strength of ADTOE.

Gotta go with #1 for being the most consistent. Every song on ToT and 8VM is excellent, and although DT12 is better than either of those albums, ADTOE had a few elements that bring it down for me, which sucks because with maybe different sounds, or a different mix, I'd like it way better.

Octavarium is far and away my favorite album on that list, so I'll take the first choice.

Even though I don't care much for 8vm, I would go with ToT+8VM, because even though ADTOE is the best out of the 6 choices, I would consider DT12 to be among the worst. ToT+8vm is a closer matchup for me.

ADTOE and DT12.

I rank DT12 and ADTOE higher than any of the 4 albums prior to them,  so this easy for me.
I feel strangely honored to be following up a post from Sir Walrus Cauliflower.

I went with ToT and 8vm.

ToT was the first album released after I had become a fan.  I was still going through their back catalog and digesting everything, but ToT was just a fun ride.  So I bounced back and forth between the "new release" and the rest of DT's music.  I think when dissected with other albums that have more "depth", ToT doesn't hold up well, but it's the musical equivalent of a popcorn flick.  As I Am remains one of their better singles, IMHO.  Then with 8vm, it blew me away with the concept and the music (TALW and NE aside).

I feel ever release after I judged a little too harshly.  Now fluent with every album, each new release I wanted to be the most amazing experience, rather than focusing in on how the release fits in with the previous discography as a whole.

TOT is my favorite of these, and Octavarium is probably third behind ADTOE, so I went with the first option.

Train of Thought and Octavarium are probably my third and fourth favorite albums. But they're all really great.

Train of Thought and Octavarium

That, and it's not even a contest. My next choice would be SC/BCASL.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

BC&SL is by far my favourite album out of all of those, but putting it back to back with SC would kind of drag down the experience quite a lot... so I've gone with ToT and 8V

ToT-Octavarium. While Octavarium has some weak songs, it's still one of the best DT albums for me.
