I'm confused.  I gotta get Smoke and Mirrors out and have another listen.

Samples from all the songs.  Actually not feeling much from the samples from the other songs, but I still have confidence in this.

I can't put my finger on it.  Has moments of being interesting.  Some of the guitar parts are interesting, some are bland.  Some of the vocal melodies are strong.  The drums do nothing for me, but that's probably because Ray Luzier was the drummer for the last Lynch collaboration and that was great.

If somebody told me it sounds dated, I probably wouldn't argue.  It definitely is a throwback.  Because of the players, I will get it and probably give it more of a chance than other albums.  Lately, I don't get into new stuff unless something really catches my ear and stands out as very strong.  So far, that hasn't happened.

This sounds like a solid release, nothing spectacular though.

It sounds like the songs they have released are easily the best ones.

I never listened to Smoke and Mirrors, but I heard bad things.  From what I heard, it had a very modern sound to it.

Oh god no - that was awful I meant the Sound Mountain Sessions - and my memory was letting me down a bit as its an ep not an album.

Smoke and Mirrors was actually pretty good.  Are you sure you aren't thinking of Smoke This? as that is the one everybody hates.  Smoke and Mirrors came out just a couple of years ago and has Oni Logan, just like Sound Mountain Sessions.

https://www.amazon.com/Smoke-Mirrors-Lynch-Mob/dp/B002M4YT7C
You can check out samples there and it looks like it is free on Amazon Prime

I think you're right - getting Smoke and Mirrors and Smoke This confused most likely.  Smoke and Mirrors was pretty solid.

Yes UI was. Dug S&M () out the other day and enjoyed most of it. Getting old - the grey mattewr doesn't work the same!). COuldn't remember where I'd posted this opinion either... hmm

I'm not sure that song does anything for me.

I have a question..what is George Lynch's best album that is not Dokken? And by best, I mean heaviest.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I don't know that he has a HEAVY album, especially by today's standards.

But this is one of my favorite Lynch songs outside Mr. Scary
When Darkness Calls

and on the same album
The Secret

Not bad. I actually gave When Darkness Calls a listen.

By heavy, I mean heavier than Dokken. Honestly, I never gave Lynch Mob a chance. They might be one of those acts that I can go back discover.

Lynch Pilson
Breath and a Scream
When You Bleed

Tooth and Nail (Lynch Pilson part 2)
Slave to the Empire

Lynch's Scared Groove
Flesh and Blood

Smoke This - Rap Metal (very un-Lynch like, but not as bad as everybody says)
Souls of We - Most won't like the singer
Smoke and Mirrors - More on the bluesier metal side, but hardly blues
Kill All Control - I like this one, but not really heavy
KXM - Love it.  Drumming might be the highlight

I enjoyed the new song.  I'd like to hear the whole album before I invest money on it.

Kiss of Death, Mr. Scary, Tooth and Nail, When Heaven Comes Down
All Dokken and probably the heaviest Lynch ever got.  He has stuff like that outside of Dokken, and like Dokken, it appears here and there rather than dominating an album
Maybe give this a try:
Street Fighting Man

Some of my favorite Lynch songs aren't heavy at all
Dokken: Heaven Sent
Lynch Mob: She's Evil, For a Million Years, Dream Until Tomorrow
Sacred Groove: Luv Power from the Mama Head, I Will Remember, Tierra del Fuego
Kill All Control - Voices in My Head

the two Lynch Mob albums and Sacred Groove are probably the most guitar slinger Lynch will be.  He kind of started working more on his rhythm playing and easing back on guitar solo flash after those.

Sweet Lynch isn't giving me an OMG moments, but I'll probably get it once it is out.  It is enjoyable, but nothing I'd stand behind in a "you gotta check this out" moment.

Cal, I'm more than familiar with Dokken. Saw them many times back in the day.
Actually I saw them in 1995 after they got back together and they were absolutely incredible.

I'm not a huge Lynch guy. That's why I never got into Lynch Mob. Never gave them a chance TBH.

I saw them in 1995 too.  They were amazing.
Then I saw them in 1997 and I remember telling my friends there "Sorry.  This is the last time I drag you to a Dokken concert."

Well, this is an easy favorite album of January (out of 5 albums, I've have heard so far).  Love Stays, Me Without You, Rescue, Divine, and Strength in Numbers are the early favorites.  I mean, pretty hard-hitting riffs, good lyrics, great recognizable vocals, good to hear solos.  Easy thumbs-up for me.  Yes, I'm that easy to impress.

One my first listen, this album is not really what I expected.  Seems a bit more laid back than what initially thought.

I'm leaning towards not picking it up right now. Sounds too laid back for me.

Need to find a way to road test this album before buying it. I almost picked it up when I bought the two Periphery albums at Best Buy, but "laid back" is not what I want to hear from this project.  :lol

I'm giving this quite a few goes, but for me it's hard to fully get into.  There just seems to be a lot of filler, and so many slow tracks.  They definitely released the best songs prior to release and it gave a bit of a false representation of the album IMO.

Songs like Wish, Time Will Tell, Recover and September and even Strength By Numbers are fantastic numbers, but the rest just seem so plain and ordinary.  Nothing really special, just the band going through the motions.  I'm gonna keep listening because despite my expectations, if I can take it for what it is, I think it can open up to something pretty good.

Based on what I am hearing, I may not get it now.  I love Lynch's guitar work.  And I love Sweet's work.  But I was looking forward to something heavy here.  If it doesn't really pack much punch, I am not interested.
