Wow, this is epic :hefdaddy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4ydPQIF6D0

Wow.  I don't know anything about this whole project or upcoming performance, but from judging from that video, it sounds like something that JLB would fit right at home in.  Sounds great.

I want more. I think I listened to that video 30 times :P
I especially like how they sing "Salvation" at the end of the video, in different pitches and someone is growling. Interesting project, it'll be better then studio album  :tup

This sunday I will attend the show! Since it is forbidden to record anything, I assume they have plans to do it themselves. There is a bootleg of the band/stand-in try out (which I also attended and was awesome) on yt, but no Labrie there offcourse.

Anyways, relevant pic from last week:

 ;D

Woooo only two days to go :hefdaddy
Anyone else at the Saturday evening show?

Have fun! If the try-out is any indication, the show will be stellar. DTFer Evermind is attending the first show this evening. Don't know if there are any other members.

His acting was great! I especially liked how he was looking all heartbroken and sad and misguided and clueless and whatever the concept required of him.

His vocals were also great, and the amazing crystal clear sound quality really helped him out too. I'm not sure, but I think he didn't managed to do the very last scream right (he did great at "I'm ali-i-i-ive! I won't look back!"). I may be wrong, I was just too excited at the moment. His soft, warm parts were good too, some parts were a bit too breathy I guess.

I'm only playing this up to Day Two: Isolation, since in the event that this does go to DVD, I really want to have as high quality as possible on 1st watch, but holy cripes, this is glorious stuff.  Also, this is the most well-dressed I've seen JLB be in and for good cause.

I'm watching through quite a bit of it and yeah it seems like it was a great show, definitely needs a DVD. Most of the cast really pull off their characters so well, Agony in particular is perfect. Only one I'm not so keen on is Reason - feel like he should be more calm and rational.

Come on James! This is a great moment. You need to lighten up a bit.

I've discovered Ayreon last year with The Human Equation so I'm definitely hoping for a DVD of this.

But oh man, his performance was absolutely great yesterday evening! His alt-voice (lower overall) is like a soft blanket after a cold winter :')
Did anyone else wonder if he wasn't all bruised by being thrown around on stage for 3 hours? :lol

He was great!

After seeing the rough Wacken performance I must admit I was wondering what kind of Labrie we would get. He was on fire during the show I saw in Amsterdam last year, so I know he can be absolutely great and I am a huge fan of his work in general. But yeah, I have seen a fair share of recordings were he is far from that.

Glad to report he was absolutely on-point here! The Human Equation features the softer side of Labrie a lot, and his characteristic gentle breathy voice worked great live. The sound was very clear and the structure of the music allowed for his voice to be very prominent, so I could really appreciate this side of Labrie here (during the times I saw DT live, his softer vocals sometimes got a bit drowned in the mix).  During the heavier parts he held up really well too and he absolutely nailed the screaming parts. The finale scream sounded a bit more like a melodic death metal scream instead of an insanely high note, but I loved it. Epic ending. In general, I can't say I've heard him singing on the wrong pitch, which he tends to do in DT at times (or a lot, depending on what tour). Labrie fans can look forward to a great live recording! (the sunday show was recorded).

As for his acting, I liked it. Some minor banter during the songs and the way he presented himself on the stage was great. As a DT fan, I am really happy Labrie wanted to be a part of this and he did a great job. I  wouldn't be surprised his presence helped the project in terms of promotion and getting people aboard, since he is probably the most well known artist on the stage. At least for myself, I remember I was hyped trough the roof when he was announced. And I know Wudstik, the guy who plays best friend, is a DT fan, so I hope he had a blast working with Labrie  ;D

Now that you mention it, he was thrown around a lot  :lol At least the kicks of Pride were more of a threat than actually trying to make contact, heh.

Full Show on youtube

Video is private, another link perhaps?

Arjen personally requested the video uploader to take the videos down because he doesn't want low quality recordings of the show available.  There was a warning before the show explicitly asking the audience to respect the show and not record it.  Unfortunate but we'll all just have to wait for the official release to see the show again :)
