ROUND 3 RESULTS ARE INNNNBig Hath: Mingus Big Band – Moanin (10/10)
One of the most swinging, badass, epic renditions of one of my favorite tunes ever. Hnnnng. What am I doing with my life, how have I not gone balls deep into Mingus Big Band's discography. Especially as a baritone player... this is heaven. I need to start playing like this.
senecadawg2: Thank You Scientist – A Salesman's Guide to Nonexistence (9/10)
If I were in the US, them opening for Coheed. It would be a show I could not possibly miss, judging by this track at least. It was awesome. Man, you're killing this roulette. So up my alley. Just misses out on a point for the slightly weaker second half of the song.
Nekov: Iluvatar – In the Eye (6/10)
Not a huge fan of the keys on this track, but otherwise a decent prog song. Can't say much more than that, it didn't stick to me that well. Some sections better than others too, as it's a bit long.
Ben_Jamin: Stephen Marley – Hey Baby (8/10)
Ahh yeah. Listened to a lot of reggae before I got a last.fm, hence why it's not there. Haven't listened to Stephen Marley enough though, but this was really good. Laid back, awesome.
Shadow Ninja 2.0: Steam Powered Giraffe – Brass Goggles (9/10)
Instantly made me smile. Oh man, this is awesome. I hope all their tracks are this awesome.
kingshmegland: Moon Safari – Mega Moon (9/10)
When I listened through their stuff a long while ago, I felt they were a less interesting version of A.C.T. I might have to revisit their stuff, because this song was fun, quirky and awesome.
Scorpion: Transatlantic – Stranger In Your Soul (7/10)
Well. A long prog epic. This needed a few listens to sink in. I'm still not completely sure what to think about this. Certain sections were better than others, but not by any huge margins. Not 100% impressed on the cohesiveness of things. Overall pretty decent.
I have heard some Transatlantic before, but only a little. I know I liked Duel With The Devil the first time I heard it so I don't know why I haven't thoroughly checked out Transatlantic yet, I really need to do it even though this particular song wasn't perfect.
Tyrias: Guro von Germeten – Fa Fa (Come Stand Before Me) (10/10)
THANK YOU. This was awesome in so many ways. Your description of this being a chanson/sailorsong/jazz crossover was pretty spot on. Brb taking a train to Oslo tomorrow.
adace: Alcest – Autre Temps (8.5/10)
I don't know if this was such a feel-good song, but it was very rock solid nonetheless. I really enojyed the song.
wolfking: Eric Johnson – Lonely In The Night (5/10)
Eric Johnson is a familiar name, I know he's a very accomplished guitarist. This song wasn't one of the best though, it didn't do much for me. I've heard a few other songs by him and they were much more impressive.
YtseBitsySpider: Blessed By A Broken Heart – Rockin' All Night (6/10)
This is very much not prog,
. I can find this type of hard rock good depending on the circumstances. Chorus is weak, riffing is pretty good though. Overall decent.
