A heavy cover of a Muse song
« on: May 02, 2014, 05:03:36 PM »
Hey everyone, Im back with more music for you. This time its a cover of Time Is Running Out by Muse I did with a friend. We have the original song as foundation and took the cover in a different, much heavier direction. I see it kind of as "when alt rock meets heavy metal".

I did the instrumental arrangements for this one, my friend did the vocals.

I wrote 2 guitar solos for this, one of them is fairly shreddy, and tried to explore a bit into alt-rock leads here.

Have a listen and let me know what you think!

By burying the song in distorted guitar it's very muddy and even with the double bass drum the original song sounds way "heavier" due to its accentuation and punch. Don't worry, Muse is extremely hard to cover or rearrange, I know that. The solo fits and the background melody during verse 2 is nice too. With more treble and more attention to exact timing you could get the bite and snappiness back into the song, which would improve it a lot. And the singer... well, the notes are pretty much where they should be but the vocal performance itself was awful, sorry.

Greetings...
