I certainly hope so. I love their current set and I enjoyed it plenty even though I was pretty much spoiled beforehand. I think Europeans deserve a few changes, given some people that already saw them earlier this year are gonna pay again to see them live. I'd love to see The Bigger Picture, Behind the Veil or Surrender to Reason making an appearance.

Fingers crossed. How awesome would it be if they recorded another concert for their upcoming Boston Blu-Ray and release it as a full "Along for the Ride Tour" package? That would totally blow out Luna Park out of the water.

Yeah, that would be pretty much what I believe would be awesome. Double Blu-Ray :P

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I think it's more likely that they'd record whatever songs they are playing that haven't been on a live DVD already and then include them as a bonus footage.  Two full live concerts would be incredible, if the set list was radically different, but I don't see it.

Yes, that is still fairly awesome, but if those songs are more than just a few ones, a full-fledged double release would be sensible.

Indeed, if they hope to release Boston come this August, they might decide to put out something different in 2015, maybe a video compilation of the songs played in the 2nd EU and US legs!

I'm really hoping they change the set (and that's coming from someone who LOVES the current set), and they should definitely shoot a second DVD!

I once read something from either JP or JLB that they would be playing the same setlist at places where they haven't been so far, like Eastern Europe and Turkey. Honestly I don't think any setlist would be better than the current one and I'd be fairly disappointed if they actually change what they play in here, I'm dying to hear what's on the current setlist at a live performance instead of youtube videos :)

But yeah guess they'll swap some songs at places like the UK or Germany if they're on the second European leg too.

Considering the fact that i have already seen them twice this tour, yes i would like them to switch up a couple of songs. I really like this setlist but then it'll be the 3rd time i'm seeing the exact same show.

So, i'm hoping for this:

-False Awakening Suite-
The Enemy Inside
The Shattered Fortress/Glass Prison
-JLB-
Raise the Knife (Would be really cool!)
The Looking Glass
Enigma Machine
Endless Sacrifice
Along For The Ride (i hope they will drop this, i don't like the song that much but  cutting it out of the setlist would make no sense considering it's the Along For The Ride tour)
The Great Debate (PLEASE!!)
-Intermission-
Only A Matter of Time (This song was also in the original setlist but they dropped it since it didnt fit in)
The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun
-JLB- talking about the WDADU 25th anniversary
The Ytse Jam
The Killing Hand
Through My Words
Fatal Tragedy
Home
-Encore-
Illumination Theory
- Encore 2-
...wait for it..

...wait for it...

-False Awakening Suite-
Enemy Inside
This Dying Soul (Or The Glass Prison... but I really don't believe it would go well in that position in the setlist... I feel it needs to be something w/out an intro that they can just bust into)
-JLB says hi-
On The Backs of Angels
The Looking Glass
Home
Wither
Hell's Kitchen/
Lines In The Sand
-------
Behind The Veil
Another Day/
Another Hand/
The Killing Hand
Surrender To Reason
Vacant/
Stream of C.
The Bigger Picture

-encore-
Illumination Theory

Well hey if we're doing these in this thread too I'll post mine again

(FAS intro tape)
The Enemy Inside
This Dying Soul
---
Blind Faith
Enigma Machine (with drum solo)
Surrender to Reason
Octavarium

--------intermission--------

Constant Motion
Only a Matter of Time
---(25 years)
Light Fuse and Getaway
The Killing Hand
Outcry
Disappear
Behind the Veil
Along For the Ride
Illumination Theory
----encore------
Take the Time

God I love this setlist, holy crap this is the most beautiful set I've ever made (And I've made a LOT). But only considering the context that they did so much of Awake (my favorite album, or at least one of them) and SFAM on the previous leg.

FAS
TEI
TGP
other songs idc

Honestly, they could seriously play whatever the hell they want if they played TGP. Nothing else would matter. (I'm also speculating for a US second Leg since I live in Florida, not Europe  :lol)
I saw them in California last week so I don't need to see the same set again, though I wouldn't really mind. If I could make a set however (based on personal preference + some things I could see them doing whether I want them or not) it'd be something like this:

False Awakening Suite
1. The Enemy Inside
2. The Glass Prison/This Dying Soul (IF they change TSF out, which they might not since this is the first tour they've played it on. But they've also neglected both those songs for 8 years so it'd be nice to bring one of those out too. If they did swap out TSF, I really can't see them NOT playing TGP at this point. They've only played one song from disc 1 of SDOIT and TGP seems to be universally loved by most more than TSF or TDS is so MAKE IT HAPPEN /end rant)
--JLB says hai--
3. The Looking Glass
4. Only A Matter of Time
5. Erotomania/
6. Voices (I think they might play some other songs from the 2 anniversary albums if they decide to change it up)
7. On the Backs of Angels
8. The Bigger Picture (Petrucci literally said he thinks this should end the first set so I think if they change anything and add the other 3 DT12 songs, this will happen)
---------------------------------------
9. Behind the Veil
10. Panic Attack
11. Home/
12. The Dance of Eternity/
13. Surrender to Reason (goes right into it)
14. Along For the Ride (Don't want them to play it but they won't drop it)
15. Stream of Consciousness
16. Space Dye Vest (I can't see them axing this song this tour)
17. Illumination Theory (I love going right into this from SDVest it works so well)
-----------
18. Take the Time (w/ extended instrumental outro)

Also, in 2005 they played TGP as the second song in the set plenty of times, after TRoAE sometimes (Which is weird. Why wouldn't they just do TGP first since it came before TRoAE in the 12SS?) and after As I Am. It would work completely fine after TEI.

As they're back in Europe playing festivals, I would expect festival songs to return - As I Am, Pull Me Under, TSCO, etc. I know we're all wanting major changes, but given the scale of the production, I don't see it happening.

You read that from a thread I started, altho it was actually JR who told me that news. I would assume that if they haven't played a particular city already on the tour, then they'd play the setlist they're doing currently. Certainly this will be the case when they tour regions that have not been visited on this tour already (South America, Asia, Oceania) but not quite as sure for cities those regions that have been toured. If they were to do so, then they'd have to plan on playing 2 separate setlists on one leg of the tour, which I don't imagine seeing, altho it still is a possibility.

I agree - I love how Pearl Jam actually put out a 7 disc box set of the 3 shows they did at a hometown venue during 1 tour. While it was just the CDs (no video apparently), there was very little overlap between shows in terms of the songs played so that it made sense to release all 3 shows. For reference, here's what I'm talking about:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_at_the_Gorge_05/06

But with DT, unless they were to scrap pretty much the entire set, save for TEI, EM, IT and maybe 1 or two others, it wouldn't make sense to release both shows in full (assuming they'd even considering doing this).
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

I will be seeing Dream Theater in Bulgaria on July 29, 2014. I live in this country and it will only be the 3rd time the guys will play here. I would LOVE to see the SAME setlist they have been playing so far because it is just perfect. The only track I would miss is The Bigger Picture. However, I honestly can't see whose spot it should take at this time. The anniversaries' sections are gorgeous so if they remain in the set, I'd welcome it. That being said, I did try hard to make up a different setlist for the second European leg but had to admit defeat in the end lol.

Ok yes, granted I did discount the one in the middle, but you see what I'm saying. I would hope this tour overall still has as many or more songs played as a whole as the previous tours, even if each leg on its own is static.

EDIT: Actually I just remembered, the one in the middle was Europe, so they only changed out the songs they had already played there, which is why they still kept all the ADTOE ones the same. In fact they literally changed out every single song that was in that pre-ADTOE first Europe leg except OTBOA. The two big ones I have listed are the first and second US legs, which only keep BITS, OTBOA, and BAI (the equivalent to TEI, EM, and IT) so that proves my point perfectly!

As I said in some other thread, I can't see them dropping TEI (The Grammy-nominated lead single), IT (the epic) and AFTR (the title-track of the tour). Given that they're trying to get TLG airplay, I bet that one will stay too. In other words, I think only Enigma Machine will potentially be replaced with some other song from the new album.

I know a lot of people are hoping to see the return of 8V or ACOS later this year, but I'd be shocked if either comes back this time around.  Both seem like the kind of songs that, if and when they bring either back, they'll get the full tour treatment, not just played on one leg at the end or something.

Actually, back in 2000 they did break out ACOS at the end of the SFAM Tour and as an alternate set for the last shows in Den Bosch, and the United Kingdom...but I doubt it will be back for this tour ...would be a cool addition though.

Oh I remember it very well - I saw a total of 6 shows on that tour (3 in Feb, 3 in Aug). But there's a difference: MP is no longer in the band so who knows how JP and/or the band will determine the sets; not only that, but the show they did in 2000 was not the light/video extravaganza that they have on this tour. Let's also not forget that MM finds the current set to be very challenging (not sure if its the songs themselves, the length of time on stage or both), but if he were to have to learn several more songs in addition to what is on the current tour, and keep up with swapping out the songs, I wonder how well he'd handle it.

Ok yes, granted I did discount the one in the middle, but you see what I'm saying. I would hope this tour overall still has as many or more songs played as a whole as the previous tours, even if each leg on its own is static.
I get what you're saying but did the band release 2 full shows for L@LP? That's the whole point me and KevShmev were making - unless the band were to swap out most of the songs, they probably wouldn't bother with releasing 2 full shows. Including bonus tracks from another show (or two) added to the Boston package? Sure, but not 2 full shows.
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Unless the lighting and board operators is are some sorts of masochists, all the additional songs require is more initial time for lighting cue programming and prerecorded video production.

I might be selfish here, but I really hope they don't change it, just in case they extend their 2nd European leg and come visit us in Israel as well. They haven't been here on the 1st leg and this current set is centered around 3 out of my top 5 DT albums, and it would be a bummer if I don't get to see the anniversary event for Awake/SFAM personally.

...Honestly, We may not have another chance to see them paying homage for these two albums.

I agree with this, although they'll want to play the instrumental off the new album too I think. So I really can't see them dropping any of those from the new album and only add the others. MM said in an interview that they might not get to all 3 of the missing DT12 songs this tour so I can see them keeping the 6 already on tour and just adding 1 or 2 of the others. I think the one with the biggest chance of not being played is StR. MM said in that interview that was one of his favorites off DT12 and he'd love to play it live but that they might not get around to it this tour.

I've always felt that this was an album that needed to be played in full on it's supporting tour. The songs they're playing now won't be swapped for the reasons given, TBP is the perfect set 1 closer according to JP, BtV would start up the second set gorgeously and playing StR before AFTR, a song or two after then IT is a perfect closer for the tour of this album.

I'd say they'd have to drop the anniversary segments next year cuz they wouldn't be in the anniversary year anymore, but nothing says they have to. Seaworld's celebrating their 50th anniversary for 18 months. They could keep the Awake/SFAM segments if they want.

Although, one thing I haven't seen mentioned is that they are planning are bringing the tour into 2015 and a different anniversary could replace SFAM for the encore....

I think in the new areas like Turkey, Slovakia, Romania, etc. it's going to be the same setlist that they have been playing this tour.  Hopefully, just to bring a bit variety and to flush out the other three songs from the self-titled, there will be a different setlist in countries like the UK, Germany, France.

20th ACOS anniversary and 10th 8vm anniversary….
I was actually thinking only ACoS and not 8VM, especially not the song, since 20 years>10 years and I just can't see them playing that song yet. ACoS, however, I see as more of a possibility.

False Awakening Suite
1. The Enemy Inside
2. The Glass Prison
--JLB says hai--
3. Take the Time
4. The Looking Glass
5. Only A Matter of Time
6. Voices
7. On the Backs of Angels
8. The Bigger Picture
---------------------------------------
9. Behind the Veil
10. Panic Attack
11. Home/
12. The Dance of Eternity
13. Along For the Ride
14. Space Dye Vest
15. Illumination Theory
-----------
16. A Change of Seasons

So, basically the set I posted the other day higher up this page without Erotomania, StR or SoC and with ACoS as the encore and TtT in the first set. It's actually 2 mintues longer than the set they're doing right now still and it cuts a couple songs out, which is exactly why they don't normally play the older epics. The ADToE was the PERFECT tour to bring one back in an Evening With format cuz BAI is only 12:44 long. Playing 2 epics in one show is 45+ min of the set on 2 songs, and that's a LOT. They did do TCoT in the pre-ADToE shows though. But ACoS, 8VM or ITPoE could've easily came back.
