I need to check these guys out. I used to be massively into melodeath. I'm surprised I didn't get these guys in my roulette actually.

Yea will definitely check out their disco, thought I would start with SoadS since that's the album that got me hooked.  :)

I came to know them with Winter's Gate which is still a great record. Then I bought One For Sorrow and I like it a lot. Next up is Shadows. This band seems to be right up my alley.

They just have a brilliant sound and atmosphere in their music.  Winter's Gate was fantastic.

At first I thought they sound a lot like Opeth, but after listening for some time the similarities are only small. They definitely have their own sound. And Winter's Gate is still my favorite (of the two I know so far  ;D). I still spin it like once a month, which seldom happens with records I own for longer than a year.  :metal

Can't stop listening to Black Heart Rebellion. Their sound is so huge and heavy on that track in particular and yet very melodic. I love that the fast parts still sounds so heavy. I think the tempo is the key why it sounds so huge, it's not too fast or too slow. Another thing is also how deep and gnarly his screams are, very Black Metalish in a way which lays another layer to their sound.
The section at 2:20 just blows my mind every time, especially when you crank it up on your speakers. That's what I would call epic metal.  :metal

oh man, enjoying this.  I really am not into this type of music, but I've been loving Winter's Gate and since they are headlining day 1 of ProgPower I kept telling myself to listen more, but really haven't.  This song is great, I should dig in further.

I listened to a decent quality bootleg of that song after they played it live just over a month ago. That already impressed me with the main hooks, and the studio version has some cool variation between verses and choruses that continue the trend they set on Shadows of the Dying Sun. I'm pretty sure now that this record will be a good one as well :tup

New video will be released today, and it'll be for the title track. Having a first listen on Spotify right now, it's a more atmospheric piece that has grower potential.

So far I'm slightly disappointed to be honest, an Insomnium album is usually more captivating than this already after a couple of listens. Jani's vocals don't mix in "And Bells They Toll", and it feels like Markus pulled the wrong kind of "Insomnium Gatherum" with The Offering. So far it's "ok good".

I'm loving it so far. Incredibly melodic which is my favourite side of their music, and the sound is probably the best they've ever produced.

I didn't want to be too hard on the album before I'd sleep overnight, because I know the brain can be a funny member sometimes. It sounds better now, and Mute Is My Sorrow in particular just clicked. I like And Bells They Toll more now as well, though I'm still not sure about the clean vocals.

Managed to pick up a copy of this cd on the weekend.  Holy smokes it's amazing.  Love the whole thing right from the first listen, which is rare.

Ditto, new album is awesome.

Not surprising though since Insomnium has consistently been great their entire career.

Across the Dark is my favorite (maybe one of the best melodeath albums ever). Side note; it’s a great album to listen to in the gym, gets me pumped big time!

This already could become my fav album from them, it's amazing.  The melodies all over this are incredible.  The title track though makes me laugh as it's Weighed Down With Sorrow 2 really.  But so fucking emotional and epic.

I think I need more listens. I think it's good but as of now it's nowhere near as good as their last ones. Maybe it will grow on me.
