@MinistryOfLostSouls - Thanks for posting that video. You've clearly got some excellent chops there and I'm sure most of the muscle memory in your hands will return given enough time and practice. With your health issues you probably will never get to 100% but given your capabilities! I doubt that would prevent you from being an excellent contributing lead guitarist in a band or project. KEEP PLAYING!!!
My story is similar to yours. I played Saxophone (Tenor) for 7 years back in my school days, and that was also when I picked up the guitar, which I became practically addicted to playing until I was in my mid to late 30's. My life took a few interesting twists and turns during some of those years and consequently I went several years without access to any musical instruments.
Then, back around 2004, I became interested in music again and picked the guitar back up after having not played much at all for the better part of a decade. "Sloppy" doesn't quite do justice to how horrible my playing was after such a long hiatus.
On top of all of this, I have advanced stage HepC, one symptom of which is similar to arthritis, and that's held me back a bit in terms of "shredding" so I've modified my style a bit to match what I am physically capable of on guitar. So far so good (so what)
