I actually quoted this as part of a journal assignment I had, I remember checking the DT12 booklet numorous times to see if it was joy in life or you're alive.
I still don't know. Even after hearing it last night, I'm sure I heard 'joy in life' but the studio version to me is '...you're alive'
I'm still confused.
What the hell. Open your ears everyone, James cleary says 'know that you're alive.' If he is saying 'joy in life' he must have one hell of a speech impediment.
Listen to 17:20, the one before the climax, James clearly says 'you're alive'. And then listen to 17:27, you can hear the 't' on the end of the word 'that', then he says 'alive'. The alive is a little less clear because of what he is doing with the notes, but you can hear it's 'THAT YOU'RE ALIVE'.
