Doesn't help that I just don't see the what others do in Russell Allen.  In my humble opinion, he is WAY overrated.
If he were being judged solely on Adrenaline Mob, I would agree (despite my general disdain for the rather meaningless and stupid term "overrated").  But love him or hate him, the dude unquestionably has a combination range, power, and diversity that most other vocalists in the genre can only dream of.

He truly does. But I just cannot connect with it.

When I first heard SX, I didn't connect with him either.  I never quite understood what everyone was hyping on about.  It wasn't until the first Allen/Lande album that he really showed me what a vocalist he is.  Since then I've warmed to him greatly and love everything he does.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Fair enough.  Saying that, Screaming For Vengeance is a fucking classic album.  :metal

One of the defining moments in heavy metal.

As far as Russell goes, he won me over the first second I heard his vocals and he deserves recognition as one of the best metal/rock vocals in the world. But even with his voice, Amob has never done much for me. Thought the debut had some decent songs, but never heard the second.

I squirm every time I see " you've got another THING coming " :lolpalm:

Can't work out what this means.

The origins of the phrase is "if that's what you think, you've got another think coming".  That's not really grammatically correct ("think" isn't really to be used as a noun, at least not in American English, where the phrase is from), so it got commonly changed to "you've got another thing coming".     For better or worse - like "forte" pronounced "for-tay" (the original is "fort") - it's now the more common and accepted version.

Both are correct, and it's clear that Priest were pandering to the American audience with their choice of phrasing (I'm kidding).   Side Two of that album is perhaps the greatest album side in metal.   "I believe you're the devil... I believe you're the devil's child!"    What a killer song.

"Think" makes more sense though.

If you think X then you have ANOTHER think coming.

Ie you are due to have another think.

You've got ANOTHER thing coming ? What was the first THING??

And I actually think he is one of the few singers who is better Live than on record. Guy has never had an off night when I've seen him.

Hey, context!

"Another think coming" makes sense as long as it's paired with the first part of the phrase, but it still sounds dumb and grammatically incorrect.

I say we just abolish the phrase.

Instead of worrying about the grammer aspect, lets just crank Screaming for Vengeance to 11.

I liked a couple of songs off their first album and nothing much since. But hey, that bass / drums were pretty rad.

Yeah, I'm done with this band.  I really liked the first record, but the second album had only two songs that I enjoyed, and this isn't doing much for me, despite my man-crush on Russell Allen.

The only MP project I never liked.  I even went to their first show in NYC in 2011.  Other than the covers they did at the end of the show, it was pretty forgettable.

Reeks of having a generic song but throwing everything at it like busy drums and shredding to try and disguise it.

I kinda dig that part, lol.

I haven't been able to get into it either. I guess because it's just mostly generic rock that doesn't really do much for me.

That song sucks.

I kinda enjoyed the first album. I was expecting the worst, but without MP, I have ZERO interest in this. I do not connect with Russell Allen at all.

I hear you, brother. Russell is an amazing singer but this is just not where his power belongs.

Felt odd watching a band that is supposed to all about energy playing on a stage in front of no one.

Stone Sour did the same thing recently, but they filled the audience with inflatable wavy things. Weird.

Both pretty boring generic songs too. Although Stone Sours was slightly better.
