So I saw a guy wearing an A-Mob shirt at LAX this morning.

Which one of the guys was it?

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Some classy lyrics like Come On Get Up also wouldn't go astray.

To be honest though, I like what the Mike and Russel are doing with this band.  It's childish and no nonsense hard rock with some cool songs.  I've enjoyed both albums so I'm looking forward to this one.

I actually like the first album, but didn't like the second. I will check this out but don't have high hopes.

Just because AMOB seems to be very unappreciated here, I would like to say I like this band A LOT. Looking forward this next album!

I'm a metal guy at heart, and I love Mike P., so I gave it a shot; I thought it was cartoony at the start, and other than the Sabbath cover, I haven't listened to any of it since the first release.   Once Mike P. left (as much as I like AJ) they fell off the radar.

Doesn't help that I just don't see the what others do in Russell Allen.  In my humble opinion, he is WAY overrated.

I didn't like his voice on any of the AMob songs I heard. And I didn't think his main band ( symphony X ) was all that either...

The opening track is called "King of the Ring".

I guess they really are embracing their "WWE Superstar entrance theme song" style this time around.

If he were being judged solely on Adrenaline Mob, I would agree (despite my general disdain for the rather meaningless and stupid term "overrated").  But love him or hate him, the dude unquestionably has a combination range, power, and diversity that most other vocalists in the genre can only dream of.

And he's a great frontman as well. He knows how to handle the crowd. The guy has an amazing set of pipes.

Yeah the word over rated and the term "filler" to mean "songs I don't like".

Read one review of Hardwired To Self Destruct online that said it has 3 decent songs and 9 filler :rollin

Yes the band *deliberately* wrote nine songs exclusively to fill up a CD.

Well, I'll disagree slightly on the term "filler."  I do agree that it is overused and frequently misused to mean "songs I don't like."  But bands do indeed include songs that aren't quite up to par just to fill space and round out an album, and the terms has always been used to describe songs that fit that category (or at least sound like they do).

Obvious exceptions to the rule, but Black Sabbath's Paranoid and Judas Priest's You've Got Another Thing Comin' are filler in the very definition of the term. They were written to fill up an otherwise too short album. And there are grandchildren not even born now that will probably live off those songs' success.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Side bar, but funny you say that about "overrated".  I actually debated that word significantly, and went with it figuring people would know what I meant.  But I'm with you; the term "overrated" IS stupid and meaningless.  I simply meant it from the perspective that he seems to be well-regarded and well liked among the fans that are familiar with his work.  I'm only saying that, given what I've heard, his is not a voice I would buy an album for (contrast that with Paul Rodgers, a singer I buy simply because he's singing).

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol
