I can't believe we actually needed a second thread, but here it is.

So yeah, 5 days left. It's gonna be interesting to see how the album will be received.

Probably would have been best to let it die. Even people who liked Omerta like me think the new stuff sucks, and really it's just an excuse to make fun of Amob and/or random posters in the thread.

I think what would be the absolute coup d'etat is if they suddenly said on release date "April fools, that was only some well-recorded fun sessions we did. Here's the real thing!"

Thank God we have a new Adrenaline Mob thread.  Without a doubt, the best mob themed band with the word "adrenaline" in the name in at least the last 5 years.  For some reason seeing the new thread made me think of an old thread on Portnoy's board.  Has anybody ever wondered what his wife Marlene had to say about the band?  Well here it is.  A few more responses by her came later in the thread which you can read at the link below.  But whats really interesting is that she pretty much admits she doesn't like prog or Dream Theater that much.

Anyway, here is the link with her original response below.  https://www.mikeportnoy.com/forum/tm.aspx?&m=2782068&high=marlene&mpage=1

I found all you comments very interesting and it made me want to add my 2 cents. OH, and I'm not responding to any one post.
Talking about AM outselling DT and SX, well, it is very possible! AM is in a genre of music that does sell WAY more albums then bands like DT or SX and they play in much larger venues then bands in the prog genre. That being said you also can't compare the fan base, distribution, record company support and so on, of a band like DT to AM, it is a TOTALLY different type of music with a 25 year history. You can't compare, AM which released the album 4 month ago to DT that has worked their butts off for 25 years. DT did not come out of the gates with distribution in every record store, radio play or playing big concerts w/productions, that took YEARS of hard work to get there.  I'm positive that "When Dream & Day Unite" came out, you couldn't find it in any record store and you didn't hear anything played on the radio! Images and Words was the closest that DT ever came to commercial success and that was because of one song only! There has NEVER been a DT album in the USA that sold that many copies since, never. (no matter how hard they tried) Every band wants to sell lots of records, be on the radio and play HUGE concerts. Don't for one second think DT is any different because they aren't. Believe me they are very, very thankful for what they have achieved but would  love to have every album go gold or would love to have a platinum selling album!!!! (and they deserve that) but that doesn't happen often in the prog world. However it does happen in the rock world and quite often.
I think the whole point that Mike is making is that AM is rock/metal music and that style appeals to a much larger audience then prog. The chance of AM selling more records, getting airplay or playing larger places is very realistic, I have heard AM, on the radio, more in 4 month then I have of DT in 25 years. That doesn't mean one band is better then the other, it's just different, TOTALLY DIFFERENT. You can't compare a rock band to a prog band, a country artist to a pop artist, a death metal band to a jazz band, but there are some facts that you can't deny and mainstream rock/metal does sell a TONS of records and gets radio play! AM is that type of music and does have that chance. People into this style of music love this album and listen to it constantly! Most of you, not all, but most of you on this site are prog fans and this album is not going to appeal to you the same way it would to a mainstream rock/metal fan. I know some of you say your metal fans but your heart is truly in prog so your not going to love this album you may like it but you probably won't love it.  I am truly a metal girl always have been, I'm not into prog at all!! Only prog band I have even listened to would be DT with the exception of a little Yes and a little Rush, very little. Bands like Shindown, Disturbed, Godsmack, nickleback, A7X (I love all those bands) and so on out sell prog bands and thats the world that AM is in, it's a totally different world and scene from DT and SX. The rock/ metal world is my world, I am surrounded by those people, I go to those concerts and the people into that kind of music LOVE this band and album and some of them don't even listen to or know who DT or SX is.
Again, I think the point here is that AM appeals to a different audience then prog does and that genre of music does sell more records then the prog genre so there is a possibility that AM could out sell a band like DT or SX for sure!
I surely hope AM does well I think its a great band and truly love the guys in the band. They are really great people and they deserve to have success. I hope ALL of mikes bands do well, all of them, weather i'm into that style or not. I think the talent and songwriting for all his band is a step above most stuff out there today.

And get off my back - i've never done anything to you apart from have a pop at AMob in a thread which was EXCLUSIVELY people having a pop at AMob.

But it's ok because I like a band you don't.

Nice edit. . .

For serious though. I get it, the new album is a stinker. I had it preordered and after about the third song released I canceled my order.

I do wish Russell would get some SX going.   I went and saw Adrenaline Mob in San Antonio when they came around.. might have been 100 people there if that.  Everyone looked like they were having fun but I'm sure you can't continue to tour/etc with such a small turnout.
