Seriously Cool Pictures
« on: January 31, 2014, 12:51:55 PM »
Do we have a thread for really cool pictures?  Or even mediocre pictures of really cool things?  I looked but didn't see one.

This is a pedestrian bridge in Sweden.  At 2,480 feet, it is the longest pedestrian bridge in Europe.

In the Maldives Islands, there are beaches where bioluminescent phytoplankton hang out.  They emit light when stressed, such as when waves crash or when they are otherwise agitated.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that thread.  I guess I didn't make the connection because these aren't pictures I've taken, but just cool pictures found around the Internet.

Victoria Falls.  There are taller and possibly more impressive waterfalls, but this one blows me away because it's so wide.  That just seems unusual to me.

This one isn't too crazy, but it's one of my favorite pictures ever. The Space Shuttle docked to the Russian Space Station.

And this one is just because I love monster trucks. Yes, these are three separate trucks.

There are a million pictures of this, but this one is pretty good.  It's the Lanwasser Viaduct in southeast Switzerland.

You should check out the OKC Zoo if you get a chance; they have excellent "big cat" displays. I lived in Dallas for a bit and was actually a tad underwhelmed by their zoo, especially given the expectation that "everything is bigger in Texas."
Listen! Do you smell something?

I'm sorry if most of my contributions to this thread are of animals, but that's because I think animals are seriously cool.

This is one of my long time favorites.

Looks like down time at the circus.  Those "stools" for elephants to sit on can't be very common, and it looks like a practice area of some kind.

I was visiting one of those "pictures that make you feel good" sites, and probably could have copied at least half of them for this thread, but instead I just picked my favorite.
