VOYAGER: Australian Melodic/Prog/Gothic/Metal Band Thread

I know there are at least a few fans here. Anyway, their newest album should be coming out this year, and it's being funded by a Kickstarter campaign. It's already reached its goal, but you can still donate if you want, plus the video is the greatest thing ever. :lol

edit: btw, for people unfamiliar with Voyager, here's one of their songs, Lost

The last album was amazing and made me a fan.

I was looking into those fundraising options, but to be honest, didn't really find anything that really made me want to dive into it.

Yes probably my equal fave Aussie band, along with Vanishing Point.
I really didn't like the last album at not, nowhere near as good as the preceding 3.
Univers is my fave from them, a classic from start to finish.
I saw them live in Sydney a couple years ago, very impressive and tight band onstage.
I don't hear anything Gothic at all though...

Well, I call it gothic, the Peter Steele influence. That may not be the right term.

I dug the song you sent me in my Roulette (for the most part), and had a listen to the rest of the album (I Am the Revolution).  It was excellent, but not sure it inspired me to purchase it.  Have it stored in a Spotify playlist though.

Of the three I've heard, I Am The Revolution is my least favorite (though it's still quite good). Univers is the best.

Wow for me is is easily their weakest album of the 4 so far.
It's just for me, lacks everything that makes Voyager so good and unique.

The Meaning Of I is fantastic, I love how they branched out a bit from their Univers/I Am The Revolution style.

I'd rate Univers higher, but I was unfamiliar with the band until the last album came out.

They're the bestest. Someone named them Depeche Mode metal and they said it fits, so I guess we can also use that

I can't listen while I'm at work, so I'll post back tonight.

I don't see them putting out something I don't dig, but we'll see.

I just listened to the new song.  It's weird, it dig it, quite a bit, but it's nothing really special about it.  I think it is a grower, and sounds like a song that should work well in context with the album.

Yeah, it's really good. I like it a fair bit more than the last song they released.

According to Voyager's FB page, if you contributed to their Kickstarter campaign, you will get a download code today for the album.
Really looking forward to this and seeing them play live in July.

I got my d/l code last night and Voyager have really delivered a killer album.
It's their most progressive, but the most popish at the same time too.
Lots of layers to pick through, and a lot of depth and maturity to everything.

Could be the best they've ever done  :yarr

Finally heard the album. Unsurprisingly, it is amazing. This may actually prove to be my favorite Voyager album.

I got my copy a couple of weeks ago, and I think the opposite, I was a bit disappointed by it.  I need to go back to it and give it some more time though, but IMO at the moment, I think it's quite weak compared to the last one.

Man, that's really a shame. I'd definitely give it another few listens, though, I didn't really care for Univers for a while, but now it's my favorite (unless it's overtaken by V).

Univers is a hell of an album.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna go back to it in time, but right now, it's not doing anything for me.  That's doesn't mean it won't later on.

I loved seeing Voyager and ProgPower USA and it's compelled me to explore their earlier work before V.  I just listened to The Meaning of I for the first time last night and I'm floored.  This is instantly jumping into my top 25 albums of all time and is probably going to make it's way into the top half of that list when all is said and done.  I'm really liking this album a lot.  Love the concept too.  Well done, Voyager!

Hurray more Voyager fans! I need to listen to V again; it's been a while. Univers is still my favorite, though.
