Alright. 2013 was the best concert year of my life, and it's gonna be hard to follow it up. I'm not expecting a better year, though. So far I know I'll be seeing Deep Purple and Blaze Bayley. Also, I'm planning to travel abroad to see Dream Theater, Aerosmith and Iron Maiden. And that's only the first half of the year.  ;D

My dad and step-mom got me tickets to go see Rain, the Beatles tribute band, playing at my local Civic Center in March! I'm excited to see them because I've known about them for a long time, saw a special on them on PBS awhile back, and have been wondering if they'd ever come near my home town. As luck would have it, I heard they'd be playing here a few weeks before Christmas, but then it slipped my mind until I opened up the card I got with the tickets in them!

I *really* want to go see Dream Theater in DC, but between paying off my new car and rent/bills/etc, I'm not sure I can spare the time/money for it, but we'll see.

That's about it for this year. I'd LOVE to see Transatlantic, but that'd less likely than seeing DT.

For the first time in my life, I have nothing really concrete set up for 2014.

Now, if certain artists decide to tour, then I will certainly go see:

1. King Crimson
2. Prince (god I want to see prince so bad)
3. Rage Against the machine (but I'm not holding my breath)
4. The Cure

This is also what remains of my bucketlist for concerts, so hopefully I could knock off at least 2 of those this year, but who knows.

Stickmen coming up in a few days.
Transatlantic x 2

Nothing else on the radar. 2013 was a pretty slow year for concerts, and I'm not predicting a whole lot from 2014, either. Although 3 shows in the first month and a half is already an improvement, I suppose.

Only ones booked so far are:

1/13 Skeletonwitch
4/9 Dream Theater
5/16 Iced Earth

I'm also considering a few others, and as winter kicks into spring and more tours get announced I'll add more.  I usually hit about a dozen shows plus 1-2 festivals each year.  Concerts and caffeine are my two addictions.   :metal

Phoenix, Prince is headlining Essence Music Festival in New Orleans in July.

Reposted from the old thread.
Honestly, I was looking forward to a cheap 2014 after having spent so much (too much) money on gigs in 2013. The Pearl Jam shows sold out in seconds - I was thinking of going to Amsterdam to see them there as well - yet there's thousands of them on GetMeIn, SeatWave, Viagogo, etc for silly money. Something really needs to be done about on-line touting. It's not like the tickets are even cheap to start with. It's left a very sour taste in my mouth.

23 Jan - Jefferson Starship
14 Feb - Dream Theater
15 Feb - Dream Theater
12 Mar - Transatlantic
13 May - Drive By Truckers
08 July - Pearl Jam

My rule this year is I see no one who uses ticketbastard/jivenation but I've already broken that twice.

Actually just double checked that. Dream Theater wasn't a ticketbastard/jive nation show (at least the one I'm going to) so I've only broken the rule once so far

Aside from Rush, Fish/Marillion, King Crimson and Transatlantic, I haven't used them in three years now.

I'm sure there will be some bars/nightclubs in there, but there are also community theaters and wineries.

It may sound like a crazy crusade, but it makes me feel good knowing those basatrds aren't getting any of MY money.

Aside from my handful of must-see bands, I don't think i'm missing out on all that much.

Sort of related is that I've been notified I'm part of this class action suit, but I'm going to opt out because I think the settlement is ridiculous.

https://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/01/nj_concertgoers_can_now_apply_for_free_tickets_under_live_nation_settlement.html

It's not as if these tickets in the settlement would have been used anyway, so where's the penalty? I'd just rather they admit wrongdoing and move on.

Apologies for disrupting an otherwise fun thread. (Maybe the mods can move this to a new topic?)

Oh...and I just read that the Carl Palmer Band is going to be touring North America in the second half of this year so that's another gig I plan to hit.
