Those are some heavy bets, boys.

Says the man who nailed his maximum bet last round.  :\
I'm in for $400 on this round so fingers crossed.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I thought I lost.

Well, you did in that round.  But there are no more eliminations.  Everyone is in for at least four more rounds.  So, send me a song and your wager.

Also, Barry... need to know if you're modifying your bet (assuming I explained the Jeopardy scoring system properly).

And... two people (they know who they are) have landed on the Mystery Band list, and both chose to double their bet.

2nd... if you fuckers insist on sending me great music, it better be available online for me to sample the whole album.  I can't find Yargos, Brazen Abbot, or Forward Shapes anywhere to sample.   >:(  Might just be making blind purchases.

Whops  :P

I assure you the band I sent this round can be found online. And on my defense, since your library is so extensive I'm having to pull some shit from the dark corners of my library

I'll send you an invoice if the album sucks.  Doubt that's the case though.

On first listen of all songs, here are my initial thoughts:

Excellent
Very Good
Excellent
Very Good
Pretty good
Excellent

Pretty good

Another solid round.   :yarr

Brazen Abbot is on spotify. I checked out some of the ones I hadn't heard. EOTS is the only one I have.

Must not be licensed for US Spotify then.  I tried "hacking" my way in to the UK Spotify, but no luck.  The album is 'greyed out'.

Ok, two things before we get moving.

1st, for the Stratovarius fans.  Knowing that Episode and Fright Night are only 'meh' in my books, I was floored by Nemesis.  Any other essential albums that are more like Nemesis?

2nd... if you fuckers insist on sending me great music, it better be available online for me to sample the whole album.  I can't find Yargos, Brazen Abbot, or Forward Shapes anywhere to sample.   >:(  Might just be making blind purchases.

Basically if you loved Nemesis, you need to check Elysium, which is ten times better IMO.  The one before Polaris is solid too.  Polaris, Elysium and Nemesis all contain the new guitarist after Tolkki left so they are forming their new sound again.  So while there are traces of the old stuff, they are pretty much a brand new band and sound now.

For the old stuff though, check Elements Part 1, Visions, Infinite and Destiny, all classic power metal.

Also, I think I have a Yargos album, I should look for it.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

As wolfie mentioned, Elysium is probably the closest to Nemesis, and Polaris after that. Though unlike him I think Nemesis is twenty times better than Elysium. :lol I haven't really been able to get into either Polaris or Elysium, but like you I was floored by Nemesis.

As for the Tolkki stuff...if you didn't like Episode all that much, the early albums probably aren't going to do much for you, so go with some of the later albums. Three of the albums wolfking mentions - Elements part 1, Infinite, and Destiny - are all good.

And... two people (they know who they are) have landed on the Mystery Band list, and both chose to double their bet.
How many of these Mystery Bands are there?

There were 20 to start with.  Subsignal, Y&T and Enchant were used in the 1st qualifying round, and the two that were used this round.  So there's still 15 more.

Sorry to butt in (not really part of this) but I think your taste in Strato is a bit like mine..........I love Nemesis but from their older material I prefer it when the slow down a bit .  So I really like Uncertainty off Episode  but some of the rest is meh.    From the old stuff I'd try Fourth Dimension (half killer, half filler)  -  from the newer stuff I'd sample both of the other albums with the new guitarist (as already recommended). ...Polaris and Elysium.  The second half of Elysium is much stronger than the first IMO , so don't give up too quick.

I think Nemesis will end up my fave of theirs by some way.

PS there are some tracks off EOTS on Youtube - don't get confused by the different album covers.  There's some sort of channel here   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2xmc8kuNs8&list=PLqx_nOMMmVVEu_ZHSeJGMrDyhtXhrR8li   I have most of their stuff but EOTS is as good as any and better than most.

It's already become mine. I was a big fan of them in high school, however I lost interest in Stratovarius many years ago. Nemesis though has renewed my interest and while the majority of the early stuff doesn't exactly scratch me where I itch anymore, Nemesis most definitely does.

Chad not too keen on Episode isn't a sign of what he might think of the old stuff.  Episode did absolutely nothing for me, and is one of the weakest.  Saying that, IMO Twilight Time is incredible and would probably make my top 5.

99 Degrees is another.

Episode was one of my favourites of early Strat, probably why my view is the opposite of yours.

I considered mentioning Twilight Time, but it's always been a mixed bag for me, I like about half the songs but the other half do nothing. But the half that I like is rather good.

Four listens in, and all I know is the top 2 and the bottom 2

Beardfish - And The Stone Said "If I Could Speak"
Freakeys - One Cup, One Lighter, One Jerk
Sonata Arctica - Don't Say A Word
The Third Ending - Tungsten Blues

You guys try to figure out which is which.  Yeah, the mind fuck continues.

Results tomorrow (probably).

Well, hopefully Beardfish isn't bottom two, but considering your dislike of them, that's gonna be one.  Old SA is up your alley so that is top two.  I don't know the others, but based on the name of the band I'm guessing Freakeys is also bottom two.
