Pretty cool. Despite her having autism I'd bet the writer is correct that he probably had girls....or at least young children. I'm sure you other parents can attest to being able to notice who has children and who doesn't when one of your lovely little bundles of joy is having a 'rough outing'. You either get the "I feel your pain" look...maybe a sympathetic smile.....or you get the "why aren't you hanging that kid from a tree...what is that noise...why did you breed" look from those who've never experinced children or have forgotten that they too once had small kids.

Anyway, that is a great story of patience and love.

While reading about the kid who saved his classmates by jumping on a suicide bomber, I found this:

Very touching. What a very excellent young man.

I watched my wife get a coffee for a Salvation Army employee who was outside and cold. I married a kind, loving soul.

Actually it sounds like she's taunting poor people....I mean, do you think it'll still be hot when they are finally able to give it to the needy family? Who wants a cold cup of coffee?

Quote
A New Jersey waitress is making headlines for a small, kind gesture that turned into something big.
When Tim Young and Paul Hullings walked into a diner after putting out a fire during a long 12-hour shift, their waitress, Liz Woodward, decided to take care of their meal as a 'thank you' for their service.

One of the firefighters, Tim Young, told WPVI, "When it came time for the bill, we flipped it over and she decided to comp it on her own."
"I started tearing up and it made me feel good - us firefighters are wanted, people care about us," firefighter Paul Hullings said.
The note reads, "Thank you for all that you do; for serving others & for running into the places everyone else runs away from. No matter your role, you are courageous, brave and strong."

The firefighters later learned that Liz was trying to raise enough money to buy a specialized van for her dad who has become paralyzed after a brain aneurysm five years ago -- so they spread the word.

Liz said, "The fact that it's reached, you know, different states, different cities...It was spread across the world. I'm at a loss for words. I'm at a loss for words."

Before the post, Liz hadn't raised half of the money she needed for the van. Now, she's received more than $60,000 in donations.

Whoa...no shit, that is some massive awesomness right there. Never in my life have I ever thought of EVER doing that unless it was someone I know and more than likely trying to stick my penis into.

Well... most of my customers are people that think they're god's gift to humanity, not firefighters (just waited on a cop once. He was a dick); but still.  :lol

Colbert announced at a teacher's panel in Greenville Thursday morning that he, along with organizations Share Fair Nation and ScanSource, are donating $800,000 to fund every one of the classroom projects listed by the site.

It's almost a year old, but who cares?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD8iaqDId2A

A decade ago, Nathaniel Kendrick — newly retired from the City of Dallas — became better known as "Mr. Kent" to students as the Lakewood Elementary School crossing guard.

"It's wonderful; I enjoy it," Kendrick said.

Twice a day, for hours at a time, he owns this crosswalk. He's a man who cares for children, while at the same time caring for his sick wife as her health, and their finances deteriorate.

"My mother told me long before she passed, 'Take care of your wife.' So I try my best," Kendrick said.

But despite doing his best, his car was repossessed.

That's when a group of dads who are part of the Friends of Lakewood community group stepped in to help by getting Kendrick some new transportation.

"What we decided to do was to get in the car, pull it around the corner, and park it in the middle of the crosswalk ... nobody does that," said Russell McMillan, one of the organizers of the surprise.

For more than a decade, Nathaniel Kendrick has been a friendly and helpful face at Dallas' Lakewood Elementary, but a family setback took him away from the school he loves. News 8's Sebastian Robertson has the story of how a group of parents came together

"He's asking us to move the car, and I'm going, 'Well, it's your car... why don't you move it?" Kendrick wondered.

It took him a few minutes, but then the man known as "Mr. Kent" moved his new Mercury sedan.

"Everything is good, I love y'all," he exclaimed.

"I wouldn't trade Mr. Kent for the world," McMillan added.

Quote
When Todd Bachman's daughter got married last weekend, he wanted to make sure that her stepfather was recognized at the wedding in some way. After all, her stepdad had helped raise her.

So when it came time to walk his daughter Brittany down the aisle, Bachman did something completely unexpected: He stopped the procession, ran to the front row and grabbed her stepdad Todd Cendrosky in order to share the honor of walking their daughter down the aisle.

Quote
In an interview with local news station WKYC-TV, the stepdad said he was totally taken aback by Bachman's kind gesture.

"[He] came and grabbed my hand and said: 'You worked as hard as I have. You'll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'" Cendrosky recalled. "I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life, the most impactful moment in my life."

Kathryn Thompson, an employee at Acorn Coffee Shop at Elon University in North Carolina, was surprised by adoring students before her shift on Monday night with a fully paid vacation to Disney World, Elon Local News reported. After hearing a trip to the park was a dream of Thompson’s, students Lucy Smith-Williams and Taylor Zisholtz rallied the university community to contribute to a GoFundMe campaign that made her wish upon a star come true.

"I really took to her warmth," Zisholtz told the news site. "She was very invested in where we were from, what we were doing, and when she said ‘it’s my dream,’ I thought, 'well there’s 6,000 people here with at least a dollar. We could probably make this happen.'"
