The best section on WDADU
« on: October 22, 2013, 03:30:24 PM »
4:15-5:42 of Light Fuse and Get Away.

The song is overall pretty terrible (as is the album) but that's the definitive best section on WDADU.

Any questions?

Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Imo only the overall sound is terrible. The album is very good, that song is excellent (my favorite of  the album) and I always thought that  section of the song amazing.  :hefdaddy

That album is full of highlights, but I'd go for the ending of OAMOT.

Amen to this post 100%! Only thing I can add is that I was fortunate enough to see LFaGA both times it was performed on the Train of Thought tour. Definitely a highlight of both shows (for me at least).   :)
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

I like the guitar solo and unison in Afterlife, as well as the "father's benediction" etc part of OAMOT.

I can't pick just one!

- The chorus on Status Seeker
- The unison on The Killing Hand
- "I'm in the valley"
- The intro to Light Fuse and Get Away
- The chorus on The Ones Who Helped to Set the Sun
- The intro to Only a Matter of Time

the "father's benediction" etc part of OAMOT.

I absolutely love John's solo in Afterlife after the first verse.  Possibly my fav part of the album, but really IMO the whole album is great.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

The whole thing. I love this album and it's top half DT for me. I'm more likely to listen to WDADU rather than Awake, ToT, SC, 8V...

I second those points. The main solo is terrific as well, and the song is easily my favorite on the album.

The ending to OAMOT is just awesome, especially after having heard the song enough times to know when the ending is coming. The buildup is great and the final moments really feel like an album closer.

Also, I've always really enjoyed the intro to TKH. It's a pretty musical spot that I wish was extended to maybe a full minute or 2, to really introduce the song.
So fking tired of being an oversensitive naive moronic fkin bitch. I CANT STOP IT. I CANT CHANGE. IM STUCK. This world eats me alive. My purpose is simply to be what others shouldn't be. A shriveled fking beacon of sad energy. I have lost. I am lost.

Dare I say Ytse Jam is actually in the bottom half of the album?

I love most of WDADU and it's easily in the top half of their albums for me as well.

I can't comment on the section because of my infrequency of listening to the song itself.

Offhand I would say the outro of Only A Matter of Time.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I'd say it is in the middle.  It isn't nearly as awesome as Light Fuse and Get Away or Only a Matter of Time, but it snuggles nicely in the same tier with A Fortune in Lies, Afterlife and The Killing Hand.

This. It's such a kickass moment when it kicks in after the keyboard solo on LAB.

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.
