Former New Jersey governor Tom Kean, probably. Or Mike Portnoy?

Musicians on Facebook. Mike Portnoy in person, most of Delain in person, Mike Lepond, The cast of Bubba The Love Sponge in person, although I guess I didn't talk to all of them, but I did shout at Brent to get his attention. I also shouted "thank you" to Russell Allen from a distance.

Can't recall anyone else.

I've talked to all of the previous lineup of DT (JLB, JP, JR, JM, MP). Pretty sure they'd be the most famous.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Former congressman Rob Simmons, but I was only 6-7 years old and don't really remember it too well.

As for musicians, none of them are really famous as in household name famous, but they're all relatively well-known: Peter Hammill (along with High Banton and Guy Evans, but Hammill is the most famous), Steven Wilson, Annie Haslam & Michael Dunford, Daniel Gildenlow, Roine Stolt (and the rest of TFK, sans the drummer), all the members of Riverside, Mike Keneally, and Vincent Cavanagh.

Edit: Also, a relatively famous actor goes to my college. I think I've talked to him once or twice but I didn't know who he was at the time.

I was working at a pizza place in my early 20's and then Senator Jim Talent came in for a local government meeting. He was very nice, talked to all the big wigs and then came back to the kitchen and spoke with the workers.

Talked with Jordan Rudess in Milwaukee for 10 minutes or so.

I've been in studio on air on a #1 afternoon radio show with the main personality.

When Kurt Warner played for the Rams he and I attended the same church. Spoke with him a couple times.

Portnoy at an in store appearance.

A few musicians from a few bands with international exposure, some college football players here at OSU, etc. Nothing major, though.

Well, if by talked to means it can be brief, probably  Portnoy, Rudess, Petrucci and Myung. Of those Jordan is the one I've had the most casual and normal conversation with, after a Blackfield show a few years back when we were both on a roped off area of the balcony.

I've interviewed Jon Anderson on the phone, and I guess he'd have the most name recognition of the people I've done that with.

As far as actual friends are concerned it would be the guys from Shadow Gallery.

Musicians aside I've also met Larry the Cable Guy, and had Ty Pennington from Extreme Home Makeover in my house/funeral home from when the former Executive Producer of the show passed away.

I met Vinnie Paul from Pantera about a month ago.  He or Dave Mustaine are probably the most famous people I've met.

In person and not at some event? Wade. Nice guy, the times I ran in to him at Marquette.

Otherwise, possibly a Nobel Peace Prize winner at a small event I was lucky to be invited to. Mairead Maguire.

Define famous.  I've met 5 Nobel Prize winners (all chemistry), including having had one in my car.  They are famous if you are a chemist.

Beyond that, probably the most famous people I have met are Dream Theater or a few former NFL players, who were good enough to start, but not Hall of Famers.  Or Frank Beamer, I met him a few times.

So really, no one famous  :-[

Though I didn't get a response for obvious reasons, I would have to say Stephen Hawking, he had lunch at my restaurant and I said hello to him and his assistants

Other ones.....

I was able to visit with Sci-fi literature icon Robert Silverberg in his house for about an hour, just shooting the breeze. My then girlfriend house sat for him and arranged it for me.

I was a kid having breakfast in a Boston hotel with my father and brother, and the only other person in the dining room was John Madden, so my dad chatted him up and he picked up his breakfast and joined us at our table.

And though I didn't talk to him, just gotta add that a few weeks ago I cooked lunch for Sir Ian McKellan. That's right folks, I made lunch for Gandalf.

My best friend used to live next door to him in Lyndhurst, NJ.  I've heard the same thing. He's very cool and down to earth.

Met Kenny Rogers after a Metallica concert; nice guy.

Spoke very briefly with Bruce and Nicko. Mostly rudimentary "hi, big fan" kinda thing.

Met Jesse Owens as a kid. Didn't know who he was.

Most famous? That'd probably be Drew Carey. It was Halloween two years ago in NYC and this guy asked my friend if he could take a picture of his amazing Lego Darth Vader costume for his kid. My friend was like "You're Drew Carey!" and a conversation ensued, which ended in me and Drew standing across from the Stonewall Inn talking about how cool it was to see such a landmark for the first time. That was a bizarre and awesome moment.

Also JP/MP and Mr. Wilson, but they're not nearly as famous to the general public.

Oh, and I once (obliviously) carded a Denver Bronco when he was buying alcohol, if that counts  :lol

Probably NFL Hall of Famer Jackie Smith.  He lives in St. Louis (or at least he still did a few years ago).

Also, a bunch of us met Jim Edmonds, Joe Buck and a few other Cardinals at a downtown bar about 10 years ago.  I talked to Edmonds for a minute or two, but never really talked to Joe Buck (who might be the most famous now, thanks to his broadcasting for baseball and football).

The only musicians I have met are Roine Stolt, Tomas Bodin, Hasse Froberg, Mike Portnoy and John Myung, but I am not sure I would classify any of them as famous per se.

Oh, and I have met Phyllis Smith several times (she played Phyllis on The Office); she lives in St. Louis. Very nice lady.
