Things you can't unhear when someone mentions it
« on: September 28, 2013, 02:03:10 PM »
I don't know if it's irritating or interesting when I hear something extraordinary in DT songs.

2 this kind of things went to my mind:

- "Scooby doopy doo" in the OTBOA intro  :D

- The keyboard solo in 16th note late in AFTR.

Anything else?
Do you even whahíbrido pickingant?

-the idea that Systematic Chaos and Black Clouds are any less special than other DT albums, when they are totally just as awesome.

Every time someone puts those albums down, I'm almost inclined to agree as if it were true, just because I hear it so much on this forum. (And weirdly nowhere else but this forum). Then I remind myself how freaking awesome those albums are and how that idea totally not true at all.  :P

it's kind of a weird concept, but that does happen to me.

The Intervals part of Octavarium reminds me of Team Rocket's introductory speech.

I was about to ask what you were talking about... And then I heard it  :omg:

And the beep  :omg: I never noticed that either!! WTF!! I've listened to this song SOO FREAKING MANY TIMES and it's clearly audible.

Also, I think this was on purpose, but there's that squeaky guitar thing at 2:02 of Illumination Theory. Has someone mentioned that?

And I really hate to say this, but I can't deny 6:01 of IT sounds a little like that generic circus melody for just a second..

I agree. Those albums are criminally underrated, and the popular opinion of the community unfortunately poisons the opinions of every one of its members.

I admit I have a certain distaste for SC and BC& SL.....but throw a caveat in there that the crappiest DT album is leaps and bounds better than 85% of the music out there.

That being said....I don't particularly like those two albums due to the lackluster lyrical contributions and the cringeworthy moments of forced heavy metalness in both. Christ himself cannot convince me that there needed to be blast beats in ANTR.....or even those MP screams. MP has tried to justify those elements by saying 'the song needed them' but what that song needed was to be 5 minutes shorter and it'd have been great!

I won't go through every example of simply what I don't like about them...I just think those two albums compared to all their others (including the last two) are their "worst"....of which is still like.

Also,  at 4:42 of SDoIT on Score, there is a wrong note on a violin/viola that I can't unhear.

The awful triggered ghost notes in the first verse of LTL.

Also, not really mentioned to me, but the sudden volume rise in Fatal Tragedy. The first time I noticed it annoyed me every time afterwards.

Thanks DTF.

The feedback noise on Octavarium at the Score DVD. The beep OTBoA. AAAAND currently the little guitar string noise in Illumination Theory at 18:44 -18:46 it sounds more like a cat but I hear it aaall the time.

In FT, during the line "he turned away and left me as a stand there all alone" the eq settings on the vocal noticeably change after the words "turned away and".

Indeed. I disliked much of SC long before I came here. BC is a very good album though.
Those pick noises in IT are very distracting.

BUUUUURRRRNING MAAAAAH SOOOOUUULLLL

Can't remember, who pointed it out, but it was one of the best posts I've seen.

And "verigreippi" in AROP intro. (the news bite or what ever in the intro sounds like it's saying "red grapefruit" in Finnish)

Come on, those are awesome!

Also, I was kinda hesitant to explore this thread, I don't need anymore things I can't unhear. Reduces the musical joy.  :)

I'm so used to the way JLB sings the word "sorrow" in Metropolis pt1. that is was really weird to hear it sung differently in Surrender to Reason. It's all I can think about when I hear it. Stood out like a sorrow thumb even on the first listen.

I didn't see the post that you are referring to, but I have personally called that the Disney part since I heard it. Absolutely fits. Reminds me of  od being a kid watching Walt Disney Presents on Sunday nights.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
