2013 NFL Survivor Thread - All Gone
« on: September 01, 2013, 08:46:09 AM »
We used to do this here at DTF, so I'm reviving it. This is our 2013 NFL Survivor.

Choose one team who you think will win their Week 1 game.

If your team wins, you move on to the next Week. If your team loses, you're eliminated.

You must choose a different team each week. Once you choose a team, you may no longer use them for the rest of the Survivor.

Your team must win the game, ties are considered a loss.

You must submit your pick before the kickoff of the game that you're choosing. So the latest that you can pick is just before kickoff for the Monday Night Game (or the late MNF game in Week 1).

Here is the list of games for Week 1 Choose wisely.

(All times Eastern)

Thursday, Sept. 5

Baltimore Ravens at Denver Broncos 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 8

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills  1 p.m.

Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers  1 p.m.

Cincinnati Bengals at Chicago Bears  1 p.m.

Miami Dolphins at Cleveland Browns 1 p.m.

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions 1 p.m.

Oakland Raiders at Indianapolis Colts 1 p.m.

Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars 1 p.m.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints 1 p.m.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets 1 p.m.

Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers 1 p.m.

Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams  4:25 p.m.

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers 4:25 p.m.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys 8:30 p.m.

Monday, Sept. 9

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins 7:10 p.m.

Houston Texans at San Diego Chargers 10:20 p.m.

Feel free to ask any questions.

I'm going to wait and see who the Jets start at QB.  If it's Geno, I'll take St. Mary's School for Girls against the Jets.

Indy seems to be the safest pick this week.

I'm going with Cincinatti.

I don't think they are a good team, but I'm picking Tampa.  Picking more cause I don't trust an overhyped rookie who has looked terrible so far.

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills  1 p.m.

Not too crazy about either team but the Pats should take care of business in Buffalo.

I don't know, EJ and Tuel don't look half bad, hell I'd say EJ's looking pretty good. Of course I'm a Bills fan and have this delusion that we'll be a competitive team sometime in this decade  :lol

In the second stupidest play of the week, Lavonte David just knocked me and DTVT out. What an asshole.

Looks like Jingle is out, as well.

Those who took New England dodged a bullet.

I never got the strategy of taking a road team in a Survivor.

I never got the strategy of taking a road team in a Survivor.
HFA is an intangible, and there's no point trying to control or predict those. You pick the team you expect to win, and HFA rarely factors into the equation.

I guess, that I'm trying to say, is with multiple "good picks" to choose from, why wouldn't you take one of the home teams? That's exactly why I went with Indy over a road favorite.

I expect Indi to be a good enough team that I'd be wanting to have them later in the season. My strategy was to go with the weakest sure thing I could find, and that seemed to be Tampa over the hapless Jets.
