Stryper is on such a major roll the last couple of years.  The Covering was a fantastic tribute disc.  Second Coming made their songs heavier and better sounding IMO.  And this new release is a killer.  I agree with Jaq, Michael Sweet is sounding very very good.

Well, guess this will be another one of those bands that somehow slipped off my radar that I'll need to (re) discover.

Damn you all to hell!

Don't know where else to put this, but Michael Sweet has got a solo album coming out soon.

Here's a video of one of the songs.  It's called I'm Not Your Suicide and it's an anti-bullying song.  It's got a decent anthem chorus.  I dig it.

Good song indeed. And I've always loved Michael's fantastic voice.

Are there any cooler-looking guitars out there?  Not many I bet, at least definitely none where they match on-stage.  I especially love Michael's asymmetric Flying V.

Funny story.  I'm not religious at all but when I got (stole from the store) To Hell With The Devil on tape I just loved the music and it wasn't until much later I realized that the lyrics were gospel but it didn't bother me since the music was/is sooooooo good to hear it.

Bumping.  So, they have been working in the studio for a new album, and they got a sample out there.

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/stryper-audio-sample-of-brand-new-song/

Since I found the "No More Hell to Pay" album to be a pleasant surprise of an album of 2013, I'm excited for this.  Michael Sweet has been keeping himself very busy in recent years, with No More Hell To Pay, his solo album, his autobiography, his collab with Lynch, and now this.  All of these have been very pleasant to experience and enjoy.  Excited to see what the next step it.

NMHTP got me into the band recently, and probably is the album of theirs I'd prefer over the rest.  Good to see they are continuing in the same direction.  Looking forward to it.

I would rank it as their best, and I have their entire discography.  Looking forward to this one.

No More Hell to Pay live Whiskey show going to be on AXS TV this weekend

I haven't really listened to this album, but I clicked on the Sympathy video and it really has a strong Killer Dwarfs Dirty Weapons vibe.

All right, more new album news.  Apparently, the next album is going to be called Fallen and Sevendust's Clint Lowery is going to do a track with them.

Here's a video sample as well.

To me, that audio sample sounds somewhat in the veins of Alter Bridge's Cry of Achilles.  I like what I heard of it.

Cool.........sounds like the heaviness continues and that guitar sound has their classic era vibe.   Best of both worlds if it's representative of the album.

Bumping for good purpose.  Also, we kinda need to rename the title of this thread, as their new album, Fallen, will be out in October.  New song is out called Yahweh.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRyXDlPthH0

I like it.  It reminds me of Alter Bridge's Cry of Achilles at times.  This is a solid classic metal-sounding track though.

I like it. Lyrical content doesn't float my boat but I can overlook that as I do with plenty of other bands, not just the Christian stuff.

Well, the album is out now and I got to say, it's a pretty good successor to No More Hell To Pay.  The usual praises goes in terms of killer musicianship, Michael Sweet's vocals, tasteful guitar-work, etc.

Sometimes, it kinda sucks to see that they are sometimes pegged as one of those 80s washed up glam bands (with the gimmick that they dress in yellow and black and used to throw bibles to the crowd and have Christian-related lyrics).  They delivered well here, imo, in the form of a great modern album.

Favorites thus far. Heaven, Let There be Light, Yahweh, The Calling, and their cover of Black Sabbath's After Forever.
