Just heard about this jazz rap band from 1994: Justice System.  Great live drumming!

Yeezus doesn't have a really amazing track like Jesus Walks or Runaway and is a bit fillerish at times (especially I'm In It, Guilt Trip and Send it Up). I guess that's why it's considered one of the worst Kanye albums.

i'd say there is a shit load of filler on it, that ultimately lets it down.  Even stuff like Black Skinhead and the other big single is still pretty garbage to me.  So garbage that I can't even remember what it's called apparently lel

TLOP seems to be suffering the same fate.  Although Ultralight Beam is fantastic, the gospel choir parts are moving af and Chance the Rapper's verse is *insert fire emoji x 5*

Calling TLoP a mess is an understatement for me. It's release history sort of lends itself to that as well.

Did anyone hear that surprise Kendrick album yet? Untitled 07 though :eek

It's so good. I feel gifted to be able to enjoy Kendrick while he's around. At this rate he's going to go down as an all-time great. Maybe even be a GOAT contender.

I'm liking it quite a bit. Some songs I like more than others, but overall better than what you'd normally expect from a "leftovers" collection. Love the 2nd song and the Blue Faces thing especially.

Anyone here listen to Anderson.Paak? Malibu is one of my favorite albums this year so far, very jazzy style that a lot of Kendrick fans would appreciate I think. He sings a bit more though which I like.

Love Anderson .Paak, his live performances are amazing. Check this one out, he does something about halfway that you wouldn't expect. And that ending.  :metal

So I've been pandora-ing a lot of Rap lately. Mostly old stuff that I have grown up with - 2pac, Biggy, DMX, Bone Thungs, Eminem, Dre. I haven't really been drawn into any new stuff. I wouldn't know where to start. I think maybe its because I'm a 90s child?

How do we feel about Endless and Blonde, Frank O fans?

First impression was that Endless was far superior.  So I decided to focus my efforts on Blonde, and I gotta say, after a dozen or so playthroughs... it's pretty fucking good.  The hooks are kinda buried, as in not as obvious as anything on Channel Orange, but they're definitely there, and they're killer.  Nights, Self Control, Solo, Solo Reprise (that 3k verse :O ) are my faves at the mo.  The only thing I'm not really liking is Nikes.

Kendrick Lamar is pretty universally recognized as the best of the mainstream new school. 2012 album Good Kid, Maad City is more traditional rap but a fantastic concept album nonetheless. Newest album To Pimp A Butterfly has more jazz rap and is widely hailed as a masterpiece. Check him out, and I don't think you'll regret it.

Mark Morrison - Return of the Mack
Ice Cube - Today Was a Good Day
Bone Thugs - Crossroads
2Pac - Changes
Silk - Freak Me
Bel Biv Devoe - Poison

Been on a huge Digable Planets kick recently. Honestly one of the best 90s hip hop groups, but they never get the proper credit I find. Maybe because they only released 2 albums. Also if anyone is into experimental hip hop group Shabazz Palaces and doesn't know Digable Planets, check them, because the rapper from Shabazz Palaces is a member. Digable Planets are a lot more conventional but they seriously nailed laid back jazz rap on Blowout Comb almost as good as A Tribe Called Quest did with The Low End Theory.
