What a great album. How did you not know about it?

I was born the year it came out, so by the time I really started listening to music, which was around 99, N.W.A had long since disbanded and I guess it just slipped through the cracks of time.

All these years, sadly I never even knew about it, until A friend of mine recommended it when we were talking about music the other day. And I am glad he did.

Its pretty much exactly what I was looking for. :tup

lol, I meant Yonkers.

It's a very trippy but interesting video. Weird lyrics and a weird flow, but it's cool.

That's why I like him. The guy's insane. I love rappers that push the envelope a bit too far.

Prime example:

"What you think of Hayley Williams?/Fuck her, Wolf Haley robbing them/I'll crash the fucking airplane that faggot nigga BoB is in/and stab Bruno Mars in his goddamn esophagus/And won't stop until the cops come in"

I honestly can't believe he hasn't gotten in trouble for that line. Even though it's obviously not serious, wouldn't that be legally considered a threat?

I still don't know if I like him or not. I get the appeal, but I think it's just a little too much for me.

My favorite line of his is still "rape a pregnant bitch and tell my friends I had a threesome/if you have a death wish I'm a genie it'll get done" from Tron Cat.

On a side note, anyone else really digging Yelawolf?

I just discovered B.O.B. Dude has some serious flow!

Reminds me of early P.O.D stuff. I like it!

I've really taken to Yelawolf, he's easily my new favorite rapper. Here are some of his songs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWt1y8tSXHE this one is just featuring him, but still.

Can't believe I never posted my rap video in the rap/hip hop thread!  Here ya go:

Gone With The Wind

Couldn't remember if I had posted that in here or not, probably because no one commented on it.  Oh well, I'm probably being too much of a self-promoter, but it would be cool to hear some opinions from newer people in the thread.  I have another song about half-way written based on T.S. Eliot's The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock; thinking of calling it The Thug Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.  Shame that now with a 3 year old and a newborn I don't have much time for stuff like that.

On other matters, based on the samples I checked out after some of the previous few posts, I think I prefer B.o.B. over Yelawolf.  Really like B.o.B's newest single: Strange Clouds ft. Lil Wayne

Also, I haven't read through the older pages of this thread to check, but anybody else like Tech N9ne?  I thought his verse on Tha Carter IV was the best verse on the album: Interlude (his is the 1st verse).  Still trying to get a feel for his solo stuff; it's a bit "strange."  But he's definitely got sick talent.

After seeing Yonkers, I have a much bigger appreciation for Tyler the Creator. We need more dramatic rappers like this.
In the meantime, I've been spinning Fort Minor. The Rising Tied is a really good album.

I stumbled upon a new (to me) artist, I'm assuming he's pretty underground still but he's called Sage Francis and I really like his work. He's old school in that he's not always rapping about big-titty bitches and smoking dat hydro (but there's still some of that of course). Very laid back flowing accompanied by some really trippy beats. I've only heard one of his albums but so far the song Broken Wings has been mesmerized; rapping about something real and still being able to really groove with the music is a big plus.

Also, MF Doom is still the phatest shit around in my book for realzies.

DTP says "WOW, LOOK AT THAT GREAT POST"
RIP DTP.

Sage Francis is awesome. I actually discovered him because he has a part in a Bad Religion song (Let Them Eat War) and he was really awesome on it and I checked him out. Really glad that I did.

I listened to a little Death Grips, couldn't really get into it.

I've been digging Immortal Technique, Arts the Beatdoctor, and Childish Gambino lately.

Especially Arts the Beatdoctor, Transitions is a fucking brilliant album.
