New Job for a Cowboy track. Sounds absolutely killer! Artwork is pretty terrible but I can get past that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDo-VEam_JA

On 2nd listen, holy fuck this is stunning. Those vocals are vile, those riffs are sinister, the drums are fucking tight, and that bass is full of malice.

Heard a lot of dislike for Nick Holmes vocals on the new Bloodbath. Personally they'll take a little bit to get used to, and they weren't strong in the beginning, but that was quickly steered in the right direction and I think they sound great. Obviously he doesn't have the dynamics of Akerfeldt but I think this new Bloodbath album will be absolutely killer.  :metal

New At the Gates was  :metal
New Job for a Cowboy was  :metal which I'm happy cause I stopped listening to them for a long time but their new song was just killer.
New Bllodbath was  :metal :metal and yeah I think Akerfeldt's vocals were better and perfect for the band, I dug Holmes' vocals on this song which was just awesome. November has some really quality releases coming up.

The end of this year is just going to be fantastic.

Relapse's 2014 sampler. Got some sick tracks that will be on upcoming albums on there, and it's free, so you might as well get it and get your jam on to some of these songs in advance!

I've been counting the days for this release and been listening to their last album and EP pretty much non-stop.

A song by the death metal band Horrendous and from their new album. I'd never heard of them before but this song is pretty damn cool. I might have to check out the full album.

I highly suggest you do. I just did myself and it's fantastic, one of the best extreme metal albums of the year. Love the artwork too.

Been on an extreme metal kick lately. Here's what I've been listening to in the past few days:

Mass Grave - Mass Grave (heavy as balls grindcore)
Mare Cognitum - Phobos Monolith (very spacey and ambient BM, for fans of Darkspace)
Ash Borer - Ash Borer (Cascadian BM)
Huldra - Black Tides (post-metal in the vein of Cult of Luna, Mouth of the Architect etc.)
Inferi - The Path of Apotheosis (tech-death meets neoclassical with stunning results)
Revocation - Deathless (possibly their best album yet)
Nasum - Inhale/Exhale (One of the best grindcore albums I've heard.)

Another new Bloodbath song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtIA0IF9hK0

Great stuff! Really aggressive and evil. I was kinda lukewarm on Nick's vocals at first, but now I think he's a perfect fit for the band. This record's gonna slay :metal

Just gave it a listen on bandcamp. Very nice. A surprising amount of variety for what is, essentially, a straight up death metal album. Good enough for a buy methinks.

Okay people, it's time to stop the hate train on Job for a Cowboy. They're easily one of the best modern death metal bands to have emerged, and if this song doesn't change your mind on that, then I guess nothing will. This album is going to be a fucking masterpiece.

What a shitty day.

Black Tusk's bassist Jonathan Athon was involved in a motorcycle accident last night, which involved an 85 year old man running a stop sign and hitting Jonathan Athon and his girlfriend. His girlfriend walked away with minor injuries, but he's been in a medically induced coma since, and while it's not official, a band who are extremely close friends just posted a RIP message for him. If it's true this one's going to be a gut punch to the stomach. He was one of my favorite bassists and looked like one of the friendliest guys you could ever meet. :(

EDIT: It's official, what a god damned tragedy, 32 is way to young to pass, and from a fucking jackoff stop sign runner no less.

RIP Jonathan, you'll be sorely missed.

Just saw the news on FB and recalled that you were a big fan of the band. Sorry for him, the band, his family, friends and fans. Listening through some of their material now in tribute. RIP

Eldvåg:

Drums: Kerim ”Krimh” Lechner (ex-Decapitated)
Guitar: Ola Englund (The Haunted, Feared, ex-Six Feet Under)

Will definitly follow this, both are beasts at what they do.

their EP is absolutely epic! it's a damn shame they basically fell off the face of the earth and the one release is out of print. hopefully it ends up on a Blood Music release or something.

Pretty cool video from Psycroptic for their single they released in November, "Echoes to Come"
Looks and feels like a metal music video from the 90's. And as I said when I first heard the song, fantastic as frick. Early 2015 is shaping up to be a beast.

I've never seen the deal about grindcore, or Napalm Death. I listen to a lot of extreme bands, and I also listen to bands who tend to have shorter songs (whether it's Converge or Touche Amore to name two examples), but Grindcore just feels like a joke. I know Napalm Death has several album with many songs being below 1 minute, and some being under the 10 second mark. I just don't get it. It's not too extreme or anything, but it just feels like a joke, because the songs are over before they even start.
