"I should probably be doing something else besides posting on DTF right now."  Yet here I sit.   ;)

I say that every morning here...

wait this isn't the chat thread...

seriously glad I didn't preorder this though :/
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I've contacted them twice to no avail and complained on their FB page. Their website and FB page are currently ejaculating endless Dinosaur Jr. info, which is a bad sign to begin with, because yeah I'll say, Dinosaur Jr. sucks oxen testicles. Enough is enough. I just want some acknowledgment that they've taken my money and didn't ship on time, at the very least. They should be refunding a percentage of the cost at this point, but I've got the feeling they're sitting around smoking week and listening to Dinosaur Fucking Jr. What a shitty way to do business. Pissed.  :censored

So, if Rocket 88 continues their ongoing fly-by-night bullshit, what is our best way to pursue legal action? (since WildeSilas said they won't even correspond with him about a refund) I have zero trust in them as of now.

Contact the Better Business Bureau?  Email them and threaten them with legal activity if they don't refund your money for something they never sent you?

Bottom line: this is piss poor business practice, and there is simply no excuse for treating your customers this poorly.

Does the BBB even handle anything in Europe or is there a similar thing in that part of the world?

Finally got a response (after three messages, complaining on thier FB page and finally getting nasty about it) this morning. Books were late coming from the distributor but should ship in the next 48 hours. It's ridiculous that I had to ask for a refund, call them assholes, and accuse them of ripling me off just to get info about the delay. They need to be reported to the BBB regardless at this point.

The BBB is a fucking farce to begin with. The more you pay them the better your rating. They are a worthless pile of crap!

True. But when you're trying to sell a book about a specific band and you manage to piss of the entire potential customer base by appearing to have ripped them off....Not sure they care one way or the other to begin with. I feel bad for Rich in all of this, hope it doesn't affect him negatively.

I'm beginning to wonder why anyone ever preorders anything anymore.  The best thing that can happen is you get the item on time.  You can do that by going to a store and picking it up as well.  Or just order once it's actually released, and you will have it in a few days.

I hear nothing but nightmare stories on every preorder of pretty much everything.

You can feel bad, but don't feel too bad. I'm sure he is not clueless and as the author he is probably aware of the frustration yet I don't see him appearing to say anything about it. I feel bad that he probably can't control the situation, but if he dropped by to update us, I doubt anyone would be all that upset.

I just got the email that they're preparing my shipment.

Personally, I don't care about getting stuff on release day.  Going out to the store is a hassle for me, in general, plus I'd have to remember the release dates on stuff.  I'd rather preorder it, and then not worry about it.  It'll show up on my doorstep sometime around the release date and I'll be happy.

It's well and fine if the money is no big thing, but I'm on a single income and disability, my wife is on unpaid sick leave due to an injury, I have two kids and a mortgage payment. The money IS a big deal to me - I buy very few things for entertainment purposes because money is so tight right now. So I'm pretty adamant that I either get what I paid for or my money back. I can use it on other things - like food, gas, etc. Even then, I don't mind it being late, I mind the publisher missing the promised release period and not communicating that to me when I've already given them money.

It might be based on when the order was placed, not necessarily where.
