According to wiki - it took 5 months to make.

Seems rather a long time for a half an hour album.

Unless they recorded on and off between touring.

And I'd love some darker - heavier stuff on the next album.

Something like Babs Uvula Who or Panic Song or even Stop When The Red Lights Flash from ĦDos!

Take Back :)
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I wanna hear really have metal covers of Take Back and some others too. That'd be bad ass.

Oh and Last Ride In isn't dark but I loooooove it.

Have they ever played it live? I know Billie Joe / Mike jammed on it once or twice but idk if it was ever technically played

"Billie Joe, It certainly is exciting to meet you here at the recording studio right after you've just made your very first record. How does it feel?"

Same with Poprocks and Coke. I listened to Kerplunk - American Idiot (plus Maria, Poprocks, and J.A.R.) on Tues and Wed at work. I had forgotten how much I loved Maria and Poprocks..

Also 21st Century Breakdown - severely brickwalled. Almost no bass on that album.

Too bad I don't remember it.

lol 21st century

Have you heard the strummed version (Jaded/Brain Stew B Side) of Good Riddance?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVQW97RatAY

Edit: I agree with the brickwalling

I'll listen now.

21CB was a disappointment. Not a terrible album but their poorest effort so far IMO. Hurts to listen to and not as good as AI.

So glad they got Rob Cavallo back.

It's a cool version. I discovered that years ago when I was obsessed with Good Riddance

I still stand behind Insomniac and American Idiot as my favourites.

Warning's up there too.

And Nimrod

And Dookie..

Well... shit

Good Riddance would have been weird on Insomniac :P

Glad they waited.

That's why Insomniac was so short

I added some heavier guitars to Sex, Drugs & Violence.

It sounds a bit more like a Nimrod song now !

This isn't available on Amazon or in my local HMV so I have no problem torrenting an album I can't actually get on CD.

If I ever manage to find a CD copy - i'll buy it - but until then...

Plus it's only demoes.

I was told off for starting another thread... so, i'm here to voice my opinion that green day have been a bit naff since 2009. I haven't bothered to buy Tre, because Uno & Dos were so average, as was 20th Century. I have every other GD album from 39/Smooth to American Idiot though

I'll be honest that the latest albums didn't hit for me - but I probably didn't give them multiple listens. However, I did get to see them perform at The Marquee Theater a few years ago - amazing to see them in a small venue.

21st Century is my least favourite Green Day album but ĦUno! ĦDos! & ĦTre! get regular rotation.

ĦTre! is easily the best album of the trilogy. It's like how 21CB should have sounded under the enormous production.

And it has Brutal Love & Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Two of the best songs of the entire project.

Plus they're so easy to listen as the production is quite stripped down unlike 21CB which was really overcooked. And they're all so much fun to play on guitar.

Yeah. I found Uno & Dos to be good, however, not up to the green day standard I heard from 1989's "The Paint Factory" to 2004's American Idiot. That's when green day got a bit "Nah, this is good, but not as good"

Did you watch it already?

I saw the documentary about the broadway show a while back, "Broadway Idiot". I really liked that one, it was interesting to see a rock opera come to life as a musical in a theater.

" Bang Bang " Lyric Video :

I like it  :metal

Reminds me a bit of East Jesus Nowhere but not as over compressed as that album was.

I'm not into Green Day as much as I used to (I didn't even bother with the Trilogy), but that song peeked my interest. I mean, it has a middle-eastern sounding section... I don't need much else to be excited  :lol

Yeah the production is nice albeit loud. It reminds me of 21CB but less tiring.

Can't wait for the new album. Even though it's only 12 tracks.

I didn't get up early....I mean...I *did* but not for that... I knew it would be late in the day for the UK.

It's a pretty decent song. I always get nervous when my favourite bands release new singles. You never know what it will sound like or if it will be any good.

p.s. this is their 12th full length album and 2016 is their 30th anniversary as a band.

Last Green Day album I took the time to listen to was American Idiot. I was never a big fan of the band, but I think Mike and Tre are amazing at their instruments, and I admire the fact that they released 3 albums simultaneously, so I might give them a chance in October.

(Now that I think about it, 2016 reminds me a hell of a lot to my teen years - new RHCP, Blink-182, Green Day, possibly Metallica...)

I liked them a lot but this new album is only 12 songs. And the lead single sounds really punchy. If they're all as good as Bang Bang - it's gonna be great.
