"Only" 12 songs? You said that before, but I don't understand it.

Green Day albums are normally 14 or more. They rarely do albums this "short".

The trilogy is a triple album so I count them as a 37 track album.

Twelve tracks total should mean it's all great material.

Heard the single yesterday. Thought, like you, it sounded a lot like something off 21st Century Breakdown. I have high hopes for this one. But really I like all Green Day albums, so it'll take something terrible for me not to like it.
I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

Yeah they've never done a truly terrible album like a St Anger or something.

Depends surely on track length. As you say, 14 is very common, but songs need to only be the slightest bit longer for 12 tracks to be the same amount of music.

I like it! That riffing really sounds like pieces directly from American Idiot though (one of the st Jimmy riffs is almost identical I think, from my memory). But since I love that album I am ok with that.

There's that one riff that goes A - F - C - E

St. Jimmy goes - A - E - C - D#

But they're both played with the same rhythm.

Oh wow, the new song was better than expected. I really liked almost everything until American Idiot (which I loved and still love today), but afterwards I kinda lost interest. 21st Century Breakdown was alright, but I didn´t enjoy it that much, while I consider the trilogy to be bad. I mean the first one was ok, but pretty standard, the second was more experimental, but most songs didn´t really feel right imo, and the third one was simply boring for me.
I don`t want to be negative towards the band or the albums they release, but I simply did not enjoy the last few GD releases. However the new song sounds good, so I´ll probably take a listen to the new album when it releases to see whether I like it or not.

The Green Day Thread v. Revolution Radio

:metal Couldn't find one in search.

So how bout that new Green Day album " Revolution Radio " ?

I think it's pretty cool. It had to grow on me. Has several stand outs. I really love Bang Bang, Too Dumb To Die, Forever Now.

I think it's a bit short. Which is odd considering it's about 15 mins longer than Insomniac & Dookie. It just feels like it needs two more songs.

I actually enjoyed the ĦTrilogy!. It had some great songs across the three albums that would have made one really great album that would sit comfortably alongside Nimrod.

If I had to choose - i'd say ĦTre! was my favourite as it contains the absolute belters - Brutal Love, Sex Drugs & Violence, and Dirty Rotten Bastards.

Ah Green Day! Was introduced to them a while back. Love that band very much!

Top 5 Green Day Albums:
1) American Idiot
2) 21st Century Breakdown
3) Nimrod
4) Dookie
5) Uno

The trilogy was not bad at all!

For the new album, I like Bang Bang, Say Goodbye, and Still Breathing.

My favorite Green Day songs are 21 Guns, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Peacemaker, Brain Stew/Jaded, Jesus of Suburbia, Long View, and Basket Case, among others.

Sure why not...

Kotowboy's Top 5 Green Day Albums !

1. Nimrod - loved this one instantly. 18 songs and not one dud. Every single one sounds so effortless.
2. American Idiot - Blew me away in 2004. As much as I loved Warning - this is the Green Day I fell in love with.
3. Dookie - The album that started it all. For me and probably everyone else. Heard it back in 1994 and was hooked instantly
4. Insomniac - A grower. I had to learn to love it. Really short, really fast and has some outstanding tracks like Panic Song. What a fucking song that it.
5. Warning - A bit acousticy and singy songy - but catchy as fuck and all the songs are so much fun on guitar.

Spacial mention to Stop,Drop & Roll by Foxboro Hot Tubs. Essentially The Green Day Touring Band play rock n roll. It's just great and " Pieces Of Truth " is a fuckin tune.

And Basket Case will never not be my favourite Green Day song.

There's not many Green Day songs I dislike but that is one of them.

Misery was better as an experimental song. As was Last Ride In.

I didn't know there was a Green Day thread, good deal.

Say Goodbye is just Holiday again.

I wouldn't say just Holiday again. It's a track with the vibe and damn near the quality of Holiday, which is impressive cause I wouldn't have thought they would ever be able to recreate that.
I enjoy the entire album, the only song I'm skipping occasionally is Outlaws.

Oh yeah Outlaws is the one low point. It's just F. Dm. Bb. Bbm. Over and over for the entire song.

Not a great one.

But then Bouncing Off The Walls comes in and punches you in the face.

Did you even slightly try to find one? Because a quick search found 5 Green Day threads (including the new one), 4 of which were started by you. :lol

Anyway I've merged most of them together into a single thread. :)

Bizarre. Did you search in thread titles only? If not then you'll have got a whole load of threads where Green Day is mentioned at all, and then probably the actual GD threads way down the list.

Jelly that you got jewel cases for all the old albums. I ended up completing my studio collection is a more condensed format. Still need the live stuff! And Shenanigans.

I'm enjoying it. Bang Bang is such a great song that I even bought the single for it (on the left in the pic). Since I wasn't able to get into the 2012 albums at all, I was really happy with how this one is. I feel like it deserves a few more spins before I can give a solid opinion on it though.

"Good" is where I'm at right now.  :lol

I think - RevRad is better than any one of the ĦTrilogy! but if you took the 12 best songs from the three albums - I think that would be better.

:hat Just gonna leave this here...

I have the same collection... except for all the albums over 21st Century Breakdown and I have the the Greatest Hits CD instead of the DVD. I did owned the VHS version at some point :lol

Anyway, I'm starting to think I'm not as much into Green Day as I once was. Revolution Radio is a nice album, but it really didn't blew me away. I surprisingly loved California by Blink-182 a lot more. I've only listened to it two or three times though. So maybe it will eventually grow on me.

As ProgMetty said - Outlaws is a bit dull but apart from that it's a cracking album but too loud.

The last few bars of both Say Goodbye and Bouncing Off The Walls are painfully loud.

Great songs though. I was thinking about getting the HDTracks version.

I hope they do a live DVD with most of these songs on.

Finally - Jason White has officially left the line up and he's returned to being a touring only member.

Bang bang is awesome.

Ordinary World is great but comes in louder than everything else on the album. I have to turn it down a notch or two .

RevRad is about a 4 on the DRM - which is terrible. It's not as clipped as Death Magnetic and covered in fizz but it's LOUD.

It looks like the vinyl is a hell of a lot more dynamic. Might have to get that instead.
