Hello, fellow DTFers.

About 3 months ago I started working on making my own music, just for doing something fun. My first idea was to make one album for each season of the year, spring, summer, autumn and winter, and make all different from each other, both musically and different influences, etc. Anyhow, I released my first album a few weeks ago, which is the Spring-album. I'm currently working on the Summer-album, which is progressing very nicely, and should be out in June-July, depending on when I get happy with it. Most of the songs are already done.

But to get back to the album I already have out, it's called Bright Lights and has 6 songs on it. About 30 minutes of running time, and it's mainly a mixture of Post-Rock and Ambient, and my idea is that all the upcoming albums will have slightly different sounds and influences on them, but all be around the 30 minute mark with 6 songs.

1. Beach Party 04:44
2. Paris in the Spring 05:00
3. Efflorescence 02:36
4. Summer Nights 04:40
5. Waves 02:32
6. Bright Lights 09:16

The name for the project comes from a song by the band Amplifier, both because it's an amazing song, but also because I felt it had that atmosphere I was going for with the music.

Check it out here: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/ (you can also download it free from here, if you prefer listening on the computer)

Cheers! :)

Cool stuff, I can definitely hear the spring vibe! :tup The name of the project is pretty similar to a Finnish pop group called Pariisin Kevät (Spring of Paris) but I can already say that your music is more pleasant for my ears than that band :P

I feel like you should pull back the drums presence a bit and let the guitar take the lead. I'm liking it though  :tup

Another bump!
Just uploaded my third album on bandcamp.

Into the Forest

01. Falling Leaves (3:54)
02. Paris in the Fall (4:58)
03. March of the Goblins (3:40)
04. Pumpkin Harvest (4:06)
05. Cerulean Twilight (2:36)
06. Into the Forest (9:24)

This one is more orchestral, classical and minimalistic than the previous albums. So a different vibe, but I think the "core" in the sound is still there.  :)

Thought I would update:

Okay, so the fourth and final album for this concept is out now, just uploaded it: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/fade-into-oblivion

I would say probably the most diverse one so far. There's drone, noise, some post-rock, some electronic stuff (both more ambient and something similar to Necro Deathmort for example) and METAL. Basically something for everyone. There's a lot of guitar feedback as well, one of my main ideas for the album was having just that, so I'm glad the way the opening track and the title-track ended up.

Fade Into Oblivion

01. Throat of the World (6:00)
02. Paris in the Winter (5:03)
03. Arctic Winds (3:51)
04. Falling Snow (3:41)
05. Destroyer of Worlds (2:19)
06. Fade Into Oblivion (9:11)

Time for an update!

Just released my new album, the sixth one overall. This album features guest musician Joseph Tingle (who you might know as Perpetual Change here on DTF), and he contributed music on the tracks "Morning Light", "Infinity (Part I)" and "Evening Sun".

Paris in the Spring - Infinity

01. Morning Light (2:24)
02. Infinity (Part I) (8:15)
03. Infinity (Part II) (3:01)
04. Infinity (Part III) (3:36)
05. Cloud Song (4:36)
06. Skyline to the Ocean (17:17)
07. Evening Sun (7:07)

And you can listen to it on the bandcamp: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/infinity
Or check out the FB-page: https://www.facebook.com/parisinthespringmusic

It should also be going up on Spotify within a few weeks, but it's not up there yet.

Thanks :)

Just a little update. Today I just released my seventh album, called "The Stars in the Sky are Distant Cities on Fire", a 2 hour double album. It's essentially an ambient/drone album in the spirit of Stars of the Lid, mainly focusing on minimalism. I'm also working on new material that will be more in the spirit of progressive rock, but more on that later.

Paris in the Spring - The Stars in the Sky are Distant Cities on Fire

CD1:
1. A Loud Silence (5:22)
2. Aurora Borealis (2:04)
3. Tokyo (13:15)
4. Requiem For Dying Sisters (Part I) (5:13)
5. Requiem For Dying Sisters (Part II) (9:01)
6. They Don't Sleep Anymore on the Beach (2:22)
7. Red Mist Over Open Fields (6:49)
8. The Stars in the Sky are Distant Cities on Fire (16:01)

CD2:
1. The Leader of the Starry Skies (7:34)
2. Industrial City/Grey Harbour (3:37)
3. London (10:01)
4. Joseph Tingle (4:07)
5. Luminous Clouds Over Central Park (Part I) (8:24)
6. Luminous Clouds Over Central Park (Part II) (2:59)
7. Luminous Clouds Over Central Park (Part III) (5:51)
8. Gothenburg (17:42)

Check it out at: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/the-stars-in-the-sky-are-distant-cities-on-fire
FB-page: https://www.facebook.com/parisinthespringmusic

Music is also on Spotify! New album isn't up yet, but should be in the not too distant future.

I know my music might not be everyone's cup of tea around here, but the new material I have started working on so far has a little bit more of a prog feel. I'm aiming to make a progressive rock album next, with maybe some elements of jazz. We'll see how it progresses, but if it turns out the way I want it to, it might be more interesting for some people here. :)

Time for a new album bump!
This time it's not ambient, but I went back to my signature sound, I feel like this album has more of a metal (and maybe even prog) edge to it, and the result is:

Paris in the Spring - The Light Between Oceans

1. Subsume (07:33)
2. Whiplash (3:50)
3. Windwalker (7:12)
4. Doubt (2:49)
5. Faith (6:31)
6. Salvation (4:13)
7. The Light Between Oceans (10:40)

You can check it out (even download it for free) over at:
https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/the-light-between-oceans

have a nice day,
/cheers

or wait a week or two and it will pop up on the Spotify :>

Awesome album. I've had a few listens and I really like the atmosphere, the themes and the instrumentation. Probably my favourite of your albums - Into the Forest and Fade Into Oblivion are the only ones that really come close imo.

Keep up the good work!

Paris is Burning is my new 5 song EP, and possibly the final release under this moniker. I have been toying around with different software lately and been creating some music with a totally different feel to it, and moving forward my focus will be on a brand new project (as of now untitled) where I will be putting out releases. It also feels like a good time to close the book on PITS, maybe not permanently, but at least for the foreseeable future.

Paris is Burning follows in the footsteps of another album I made called "The Stars in the Sky are Distant Cities on Fire", and the ~20 minute EP consists of Ambient/Drone music.

Paris in the Spring - Paris is Burning EP

1. We Fell From the Sky (02:32)
2. Paris is Burning (03:24)
3. Escape (03:15)
4. City Disappearing (03:28)
5. Swan Song (07:16)

Atlas is out now! It's more of an ambient album than The Light Between Oceans was, but also incorporates some other familiar elements of PitS like Indie Rock and some Electronica/Drum n Bass.

Paris in the Spring - Atlas

1. Echoes (4:16)
2. Voyager (4:20)
3. Helpless (7:14)
4. 2099 (2:19)
5. Wireless (7:44)
6. Traveler (2:41)
7. Atlas (14:19)

bandcamp: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/atlas

will be coming out on Spotify in 2-3 weeks or so, hopefully up on Youtube by then as well.

Bumping because I dropped a new album today! :)

Paris in the Spring - Ukiyo

1. White Noise (4:32)
2. Morning Bliss (2:50)
3. Elegy (4:02)
4. Sea Nymph (2:48)
5. Sirens (2:38)
6. Crimson Sky (3:04)
7. Void (2:38)
8. The Rapture (3:03)
9. Floating World (7:41)

https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/ukiyo
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBgQS4e_zfECyqN_v0c3IbQ
(going up on Youtube shortly and Spotify in a week or two)

It's pretty much a straight up ambient album, so very minimalist and probably decent music while you're vacuuming or doing other things. :)

Really enjoying this a lot. For some reason I find it more accessible and evocative than your other purely ambient albums. Not sure if it's a change in your process or something else, but this one feels warmer and more like it has a "human touch". Definitely more of an experiential vibe to this one, I like it a lot.

Time for an update! I realized I didn't post about my last album here, but today I'm releasing a new album!

Paris in the Spring - Arrival

1. 4 Years Later (1:31)
2. Departure (4:36)
3. Lost in Time (2:48)
4. The Passage (4:00)
5. Continuum (3:04)
6. The Signal (1:47)
7. Stars and the Moon (3:23)
8. River (9:04)
9. Arrival (4:48)

This one goes back more to my traditional sound on the first ~6 albums and doesn't sound much like the last few albums. Hope you enjoy. :)
