Shows You Watch Consistantly v. Top 10
« on: April 18, 2013, 06:05:20 AM »
I was talking last night with my wife's aunt and we were discussing what we watch on TV in the mundane boredom of our lives. When she listed the stuff her and her husband watch on a consistent basis, none of them were shows I watch. They watch...Survivor, American Idol, Greys Anatomy, and other stuff I don't remember now.
I am curious what shows you all watch on a consistent basis?

Here is my current list of my top 10 favs... not in any real order.

1. The Following
2. The Americans
3. Vikings
4. Bates Motel
5. Hannibal
6. Once Upon A Time
7. Modern Family
8. Community
9. Parks And Recreation
10. Go On

These are the ones I typically make sure I see all new episodes of at some point.

And I started watching Vikings yesterday.

Dropped forever:

Grey's Anatomy

Good.  You can have your man parts back now.

For the Jingle household
Modern Family
Glee (with the kids - great teaching opportunities for parents with pre-teens)
Last Man Standing
Mayday
Deadliest Catch
Continuum (just me)
Cougartown (adults only)
Mike & Molly (adults only)

That's all I can think of for now.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad

Probably not quite the list anyone's expecting, but top five...

1. Doctor Who
2. The Apprentice (UK)
3. Sherlock
4. The Chase
5. Pointless

Love a quiz. After that, it gets ambiguous - there are lots of programmes I'm catching up with, ones I watch regularly but aren't my favourites, once that are my favourites but were cancelled ages ago so are no longer relevant, wouldn't give a particularly fair overview. I've recently been watching, and loving, The Alternative Comedy Experience, but I don't love it more nor even watch it more than Life on Mars, which finished six years ago - and I like panel shows, but do they deserve placement in the top ten purely cos they're omni-present? Old school Simpsons is way more important to me, but while the show is still on air, I couldn't care less about the new stuff. Logistical nightmare! But those five are absolutely my most-watched shows over the last... certainly the last year.

In no particular order, I always try to watch South Park, Parks and Rec, The Office, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report soon after they get a new episode.  30 Rock used to be one of those shows.  I watch a lot of other shows but those are the only ones I keep up with consistently while the season is ongoing (mostly because episodes are available free online).

I usually go in phases with Cheers, Seinfeld and Friends.

Right now, I am still watching a lot of SVU.

I have probably watched the entire Sopranos series 9-10 times over the years. :eek :eek  I haven't watched it in a while, but eventually I'll get the itch again and watch them all again.

Some cable channel needs to start showing reruns of Night Court and The Drew Carey Show again.

There's a few, but there is one that pops immediately to mind.

Coupling

I watch and re-watch that show constantly, and it really never gets old.   IMO, the greatest TV comedy in history.   Steve Moffatt is a genius.

Coupling

Just when I began to follow it a couple months ago, it ended.  :\ Sarah Alexander is haaaaawt.  :heart

Currently there isn't many shows I watch on regular basis. Most of them are Finnish, so I'm not bothering to list them. Modern Family is probably the only one you might know.

I used the watch a lot of Friends and The Simpsons. Cold Feet is one of my all-time favs (Manchester accent, luv), and I'm eagerly waiting for Fawlty Towers to be aired again, it's been two years.

Oh, and I'd watch Good Wife, but the channel that viewed it moved it to another channel which isn't free under some half-assed program  :censored.

I didn't want to imply any ranking so it's all alphabetical instead.

This is what I currently watch shortly after each episode airs:

Arrow
Elementary
Hell's Kitchen (the only "reality" show I bother watching)
Person of Interest
Revenge
Revolution
The Following
Touch
Vegas

Things I keep track of at a slower pace because I'm getting bored of them but don't want to stop watching for some reason:

Bones
NCIS
NCIS LA

Shows I recently started watching, or am catching up on:

Game of Thrones
Heroes (feel free to welcome me to 2006)
Torchwood (feel free to welcome me to 2006 yet again)

Things that either recently finished or start midseason, that I also currently watch:

Breaking Bad
Continuum
Dexter
Falling Skies
Homeland
Justified
The Walking Dead
Warehouse 13

I won't post my "to-check-out-later" list because it's too frigging long. I watch a lot of television. :corn

Yesterday I discovered that all of Futurama is on Netflix US.

So since I am in the UK and have not seen Series 6 yet I watched that in one evening and I'll probably watch all of Series 7 tonight.

Series 6 was brilliant. Back to the best IMO.

Law & Oracle was a definite highlight. Great jokes and a brilliant Tron pastiche.
