I disagree, Shadow Gallery has always had a lot of backing vocals. I don't think that there was a major addition of them on this album. I also disagree that the new guy is trying to sound like Mike. He has his own voice, the reason it sounds like older Shadow Gallery albums is because the backing vocals are still there in force.

Damn, a good sounding "Tate" again :D Nick, please make some noise around here if a good (or bad) audio/video bootleg surfaces. I'm sure they won't be giving us soundboard recordings anytyme soon.

Well, as of now their first show is still a long time away, but I'll be on top of it once it does happen.

I hope you actually plan on buying the CD's AFO.

Nick - did you post the video?  If you did, maybe the reason I can't see it is that we're not Facebook friends.

Digital Ghost is my only album from SG, yet I was very impressed by it.  Just from this album they seem very underrated.  The new singer does a wonderful Tate.  Really a wonderful album.  I just found it a little strange that there are only 7 songs and there are so much vocals from the bass player, the other dude that sings on Venom, and Ralf Scheepers singing a whole song to himself.  I just find that very odd.  Now I'm a huge Ralf fan, so I'm not complaining, his song is definitely not a weak link at all, but a whole track, from a guy that usually sings strict power metal.....odd.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Heading out with Carl Cadden-James tonight for some grub and more importantly to watch the Flyers kick some ass. Hopefully I shall return with a few good stories about Europe. :D

I love Shadow Gallery and their latest album. . .  I was very sad to see Mike Baker pass away. . . I was randomly listening to songs and decided to listen to "World Of Fantasy", a bonus cut from Digital Ghost with Mike on vocals.  One of my favorite singers. . .

I know this is quite a bump, but I just started listening to this band; got Tyranny. Wow, how has it taken me this long to discover them? This is awesome.

One more fan here! I got into Shadow Gallery around the same time I got into Symphony X, I have some fond memories of listening to both bands at the start of my progressive metal listening days. Great band.

You called?  That reminds me, I haven't listened to any SG in a while (unless Elinoire counts). Gonna rectify that tonight.

Yup... had me a go around with Carved in Stone and Digital Ghosts last night.  Damn fine albums.  DG really reminds me of old (and thus good) Queensryche.  At times, Ashland sounds so much like Mindcrime-era Tate.

Why Room V, get Legacy! Shadow Gallery is one of my favourite bands ever. I managed to see them live twice. The second time they recognised me in the audience and I had a lengthy chat with all of them. That was awesome, especially considering I saw them on the first and last day of their tour. Though the set list was the same both times, the second time they definitely seemed more 'into' it and the performance was great. Really one of my greatest live band memories.

Add me to the list of solid fans.  Proud owner of all of their discs.  I think Tyranny, Room V and Digital Ghosts are my favorites.  The new vocalist is great.  Was sad that Mike passed, but the new guy really kicks ass.

When I saw that this thread was bumped, I got my hopes up that somebody (Nick) was posting an update on the band...maybe they were in the studio or something.  This did not turn out to be the case and now I'm disappointed.

They are definately awesome dudes.  I got to meet them after their only US show.  Aside from being easy to talk to and outgoing, they were very appriciative of the fans that showed up.  Even got a few messages from they guys on facebook thanking me for making the 8 hour trek.

On top of all of that, they were absolutely great live, and Nick, Phantasmatron, an I had a front row view  :metal

been a fan for almost 12 years now. got into them about the same time as i got into symph x and angra (and only a couple months after getting into dream theater). upon the discovery of dream thetaer and the old DTforum, i quickly established those 4 bands as the heavy hitters in the soaring-vocals/virtuoso-players progressivemetal world. ...and really, i dont think ive discovered a band in that vein quite as good as those 4 in the 12 years since (not for a lack of trying).
Tyranny was the first thing i heard, and i was pretty insta-floored  :omg:  by cranking the opening track on that first spin.
really, all their stuff is top notch, though i never listen to the first two albums anymore. i never thought the song writing was quite there yet, and the production definitely improved by the time Tyranny came around.

hopefully Nick's sad face in regards to untellable news isnt indicative of bad news...would love to hear a digital ghosts follow-up at some point in the not-so-distant future.

No, it's not that news is bad or anything, just that I'm not free to speak about the band. At this point there is probably things I could say, but since the last two times I saw Brian and Carl we were all piss drunk hell if I can remember what was kosher and what wasn't. :lol

Oh, and a really cool thing. I got to listen to an early Sorcerer cassette, the band that would become Shadow Gallery, and hear some pre-Shadow Gallery songs in their early form. Only the band and a few friends have these cassettes so it was really cool to hear, and would be amazing if they make it out on the debut albums re-release someday or something.
