finally getting around to listening to Persefone - Spiritual Migration

Damn.

ok, musically this is some of the closest I've heard to Dream Theater in a long.....LONG time.

WOW.

*third edit*

This is now in my top three for album of the year.

a healthy mix of death growl (core type screams - but not too much) and some clean that sounds like Riverside\Opeth cleans.

Lots of long intstrumental passages....

Ytse, I'd like to thank you for reminding me about that album! I'd seen them in an article, checked out a song and loved it, but forgot the band name. SUCH A GOOD ALBUM. This year is absolutely fucking ridiculous.
Within a span of 5 months, I've heard 3 5/5 albums, and multiple 4.5/5 albums. And we've just entered the 5th month, absolutely fucking nuts.

All right... got this queued up in Grooveshark for a listen too.  It better not be much/any more than Blessed By A Broken Heart.  That's about my extent of my tolerance to consistent growls.

By "occasional", you clearly meant "mostly".  Musically, I give it a A+ for technical/prog-metal.  Like Rebel Mind, they (at times) are going fast/technical just because they can - too much double bass drum (at double speed) for my liking.  Vocally... way too much growlie, and the clean vocals weren't good enough for me to get over the growls.  The instrumental tracks were really good.

I tried; I'll pass.

Fair assesment.

To each their own.  I'm sure there's stuff that's in my wheelhouse (see below) that would make you cringe.

Vision Divine ... finally caught up and bought the complete discography
Vision Divine
Send Me an Angel
Stream of Consciousness
The Perfect Machine
The 25th Hour
9 Degrees West of the Moon
Destination Set to Nowhere

And while on an Italian binge (can't remember if I mentioned them)
Daedalus - Motherland
DGM - Momentum
DGM - Frame
DGM - Dreamland
DGM - Different Shapes

And the rest from April
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Iron Maiden - En Vivo!
Xandria - Salome The Seventh Veil
Xandria - India
Infinity Overture - The Infinity Overture Pt1
Infinity Overture - Kingdom of Utopia
Vengeance (Arjen's first band) - s/t
Vengeance - Take it or Leave it
Vengeance - We Have Ways to Make You Rock

Somebody stop me.  I need help.  :help:

Congrats on finally getting The Final Frontier.

Also, Destination Set To Nowhere was in my Top 3 last year. Incredible.  Stream Of Consciousness is great. Neither The 25 Hour or The Perfect machine ever really capture the magic of SOC, though.
I actually don't have 9 Degrees.

Infinity Overture sounds interesting. Will check out.

I got them purely because of Ian Parry's involvement.  Alas, he only sings on Kingdom.  Both were good though.

Nice work with VD.  As TAC said, DSTN was one of the best last year, a cracking album.  9 Degrees, 25 and Machine are all solid but SOC is awesome.  Haven't got their first two.

As I said to TAC, Vision Divine is one band that should not be abbreviated.  Got thru them all, up to DSTN.  That will be up first tomorrow morning.

Damnation Angels - Bringer of Light

Me too, forgot that I had gotten this in the last couple of weeks.

It's pretty amazing. I even like No Leaf Clover now, although I wish the singer wouldn't have completely copied Hetfield down to his voice breaking in the chorus. Yeah, I guess you could pass it off as a vocal melody, but his voice is breaking.

SoOOthing light at the end of the tunnel.
