Yeah, it's actually your avatar that inspired me to get them. Currently on Crack the Skye, and I'm definitely liking what I'm hearing. The Czar was amazing.

... I should probably take this to the Mastodon thread.

Crack the Skye is one of my favourite albums ever, and by far my favourite Mastodon album. Can't get enough of it.

Just such an obscure Australian band.  They had some terrific songs.

I guess they are not obscure, I just never see 80's Aussie rock mentioned here.

Ah, yes, it's finally out. How is it? Though it's sad that the proposed bonus tracks for a deluxe version appear to have become Japan only.

I bought a Blu-ray player last week, and now I'm looking to buy some concert movies on that format. Looks like I'll be getting Budokan (DT) and Foo Fighters' Live At Wembley Stadium.

I think it's a pretty darn good album. A lot of it is very different from their earlier work, though. Taylor York is a very different guitarist and writer than Josh Farro was. The two bonus tracks actually sound a lot more like earlier Paramore than most of the album does.

I saw that they were playing at RosFest in 2011, which I was planning on attending (other issues got in the way and I couldn't go). I didn't bother listening to them until later that year when I saw Snowtorch on Amazon and decided to check it out. I really liked it, but I just got around to picking up more of their albums. I'm glad I did, because I love Doomsday Afternoon and Number Seven.

Record Store Day! En wowhd had a big sale yesterday. So I spent way to much:

Vinyl:
Steven Wilson - Luminol (picture disc)
Pink Floyd - See Emily Play (single reissue)
Frank Zappa - Big Leg Emma (single reissue)

CD:
Devil Doll - Dies Irae
The Flower Kings - Retropolis
Opeth - Watershed
Spock's Beard - Day For Night

Book:
Zappa Biography by Barry Miles

And I saw LTE2 reissued on vinyl today. I almost bought it, but it was way too expensive (37 euro's = 48 dollar). I guess Magna Carta still holds the rights to that?

Nihil-Morari is generally considered the resident Zappa person.
