Vital Signs.  I always thought this song was Rush's attempt to sell out.  It just isn't very Rush-y, or very good frankly.

Vital Signs

An OK album closer, but in comparison to the rest of the album, definitely not up to par. And yes, "Witch Hunt"  is better than "Vital Signs", by far. I think the band themselves even recognize that since they've played it far more often in the last decade than "Vital Signs".

Not a good song. It's a crying shame it's on an otherwise groundbreaking album.

 ???

They have been both played on two tours since the reunion in 2002 (Vital Signs: VT and TM tours; Witch Hunt: S&A and TM tours).  I agree that Witch Hunt is better, but I know the band was very high on Vital Signs back in the 80s.  Heck, they even said they put it in specific spots in their set lists to "force" fans to like it (like it being near the end of the show on the P/G tour).

Ah, well I think I was just remembering "Witch Hunt" being played a lot more, especially considering how long the S&A tour was. Also, "Vital Signs" was one of those A/B songs on the VT tour (swapped with "Freewill"), so really, it was only played for about half of the tour. By date counts, WH has probably been played more than VS.

I always thought it was weird that "Vital Signs" was near the end of the show on the GUP tour. They did bring it back for the RTB tour, where has "Witch Hunt" hadn't been played since the POW tour.

Once Rush had enough albums to where they were past the stage where fairly new songs had no choice but to be at the end of sets, the band has never been immune to putting new(er) songs near the end of set lists:

-Red Lenses and Vital Signs in the encore on the P/G tour
-Grand Designs in the encore on the PoW tour
-Scars, War Paint and Mission all near the end of the set on the Presto tour
-Superconductor near the end of the set on the RtB tour (and seguing from Xanadu, the biggest WTF in the history of Rush :lol)
-One Little Victory in the encore on the S&A tour
-Far Cry at the end of the 2nd set on the TM tour

With Hunt is one of my least favorite Rush songs, and definitely the worst from this album IMO.

I'm not changing my vote, but I just listened to the surround sound version that came out a year or so ago on DVDA/Blu-Ray and it gives the song new life.

Who the hell voted the camera eye?

Honestly, every song on this record is so great, that I can't fault anyone for voting for any song, in any round.  Well, except Red Barchetta.  Anyone who votes to eliminate that in any round should be kicked in the chins.

THIS...

And all the hate for VT has almost got me wanting to give it pity for the first round....because it really doesn't deserve it.     But alas, even though it is an INCREDIBLE song, it is my least favorite from this album.

Vital Signs is a great closer to the album, really atmospheric at the end, but I'll have to vote for it simply because every other song ranges from a little bit better to top-notch Rush.
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

Fuck. First the AIC survivor yesterday, now this. I can't pick one. All of these songs are very enjoyable but none are landmarks for me like Xanadu, Hemispheres, La Villa Strangiato, etc.

Have fun going on a witch hunt until a perfectly good and innocent song's vital signs have completely failed, you vultures.

I voted for The Camera Eye. Honestly, I never understood the love for it. It is too long IMHO, and much less interesting than other songs.

BTW, I LOVE Vital Signs.... :P

I'm not going to like this round, because Witch Hunt and Vital Signs are my two favourites.

The Camera Eye.
