I always loved that one.  People always expect me to sound like "Mr. Lee" but when I start talking like his wife, they get all confused.

Looks like a name. Those characters mean "Amble" like the UK city, but I'm not sure why they'd be written like that.

Chino your app sucks, though it did get cloth right, since the middle one does mean that.

Well, if you pronounce it in Mandarin, it sounds like "An Bu Er", which is not the word Chinese use for Amber (they have other words for it). But if a foreigner was named Amber, and wanted to translate their name into Chinese just retaining the phonetic sound, it's as good as you could get really. I've been to international conferences in China where I saw foreigners with lots of Chinese names like that.

So this is more the phonetic way to write it... Like how you pronounce it. So if you go to china and show this word. They will say your name correctly.

But there are also some othere characters to translate it

Well, they will call you An Bu'er. If you want to call yourself the actual Chinese word for amber, look here: https://www.nciku.com/search/all/amber

But obviously introducing yourself to Chinese people as "Hupo" is going to sound weird to them more often than not, just like Chinese who translate their names literally to things like "Jade Dragon" and "White Snow" sound weird to English speakers.

yes that is right... We indeed dont call chinees by their translated names (like you say whit snow etc.).
I looked up the characters and let google translate pronounce it.... and it indeed really sounds like Amber... So when you go to china and you say you're name is Amber it is good possible that they write it like that.

And when you translate Amber to chinese with google translate you indeed get Hupo... but that sounds strange when you say it like that. So i think both options are good when you want to translate Amber to chinese

Not only would it "sound" strange. It would "be" strange, because you would be saying that you are named
