Making this list sent me to the biggest musical journey I ever experienced. I discovered so many new albums that completely changed the way I listened to music.
I worked on this list for months, but I never managed to pick my 50 favorite albums. each time I dicovered a new album which I loved to death, some other album that I used to love seemed less-awesome suddenly. This list of 40 albums is a reflection of my musical taste at this very moment.

And well, I dont really want to rank my favorite albums.. its so hard... so Im just making an alphabetic list :P
First update coming soon! im just not too sure about very few albums in the list, so im giving them a relisten to be sure about them  ;)

Are you doing them alphabetically by artist or by album title? Anyway, I will be following.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.  :biggrin:

In before at least half of the list is post-rock bands I've never heard of.

Wrong :p there arent too many "obscure" bands in my list really. probably because im only 18 and started to listen to music seriously like, 3-4 years ago.

And here we start  :D

Sigur Ros - () - 2002

Well, this album doesnt start with a letter, so thats why it comes first :p
This album is untitled, all of the songs are untitled, all of the words are in a language Sigur Ros invented and they call it "hopelandic"... and I heard it even comes with an empty booklet.  the album is divided into two halfs, divided by few seconds of silence. first half is optimistic, and the second one is more gloomy. super pretentious isnt it? ;3

Aniways, this album is truly beautiful.  I think the first half is much much better than the second half, but I still love it enough to be in my fav albums.
Untitled #3 is espicially awesome.

Interesting fact: the number of albums in this list from each decade:

10's = 4
00's = 15
90's = 14
80's = 0
70's = 6
60's = 1

Good  start. I'm a latecomer to SR, and I have to be in a certain mood for it- usually doing paperwork at work.

A Winged Victory For The Sullen - A Winged Victory For The Sullen - 2011

This album is a collaboration between Adam Wiltzie (one of the memebers of the ambient duo "Stars Of The Lid) and some piano player called Dustin O'Halloran.
Its unbeliveably beautiful. in fact, I dare calling it one of the most beautiful albums of all-time.
The piano work is simply divine, and the ambient noises created by adam take it to even a higher level, and  everything sounds as open, free and organic as possible.
This album is letting your spirit go free, its a triumph, its visiting in heaven and coming back to earth again. Its THAT GOOD, yha.
You should seriously check this thing out.

I love beautiful things.

The Devin Townsend Band - Accelerated Evolution - 2003

One of the best albums by Devin. This album is metal for emotional people - it gets pretty heart wrenching at some points, and its amazing.
The ambient sounds used for this album are simply ethereal, and the production is one of his very best productions. the guitar playing and vocal performance are all top-notch.
It has some of Devin's best songs - Storm, Deadhead, Suicide and Away. Its an incredible album.
If you wanna get into Devin Townsend, this is a great start.
I love beautiful things.

Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun - 1999

Ah, Agaetis Byrjun , one of my all time fav albums :3
This album is just GORGEOUS. this album is nothing less than 71 minutes and 51 secons of musical excellence.
Full with moving melodys and powerfull ambient sounds - espicially the sounds created by the bowed guitar - this album is near perfection.
Its pretty mind-blowing how consistently amazing this album is - every single song here is pure gold.
This album is one of my all time favorites despite the fact i cant understand a single word from it. Listen to it, love it and embrace it.
I love beautiful things.

Another thing that I would like to say about Agaetis Byrjun is, that during the hardest days of my depression this album allways helped me to feel a bit better.
So this album is very special for me :3

Radiohead - Amnesiac - 2001

I absolutely love this album. it has a unique feel that I cant find anywhere else. that dark-claustrophic-paranormal feel Amnesiac has is just incredible.
Anything from the fake album-ending of Like Spinning Plates, the uneven number of songs and the way Pyramid Song and Pulk end at the same way helps at creating the unique atmosphere of this album.
This album doesnt have any weak points, though the Amnesiac version of Morning Bell is a bit lower than the others.
I would like to mention Pyramid Song and Like Spinning Plates, since they are both some of best songs I ever heard. just aw-inspiring and amazing.
If you havent heard this album, and you like artistic stuff, you should listen to it right now. this album is pure art.
I love beautiful things.

The Devy album is the only one I have and the only album I've heard of so far. Pretty good album overall and is probably the most straightforward approach from all his releases thus far. Sigur Ros is now on my list to check out.
