Can I give it a try? Been lurking here for like 4 months now, and it seems like fun :). I don't know how much time it'll have to pass before my turn comes, but I figure in two weeks from now I'll be ready to put everything in its place.

Sure. I put you on the "On Hold List" on the original post. When you're ready to start, let me know, and I'll put you on the wait list, or tell you that you can begin immediately, based on if there is a wait list.

Er, with the list empty soon, can I try again? Got a backup laptop to with my list added so I most certainly WON'T vanish this time.

There's only one list going right now, so by all means, feel free to start again.

Can I sign up for this please? I'm only brand new to the forum (this is actually my first post) but been lurking here for months.

For what it's worth=assuming I'll be invited to participate-I've already got my list written out, so it wouldn't take me that long to get it posted.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see the "open invitation" part of your intro.

I just hope I understood you correctly that you WILL be sending messages to each of us  individually when you want our lists submitted within the month.

DoC, I had a thought.  Since we have quite a few members joining this Top 50 thread, I thought it would be a great idea to comprise a best of the best.  For example, we can tally up votes for each song based on its location in the list.  Number 50 would get 1 point and number 1 would get 50 points and so on.  Why you ask?  Because I have a unhealthy obsession with playing with numbers.  If this would be too time consuming for you to attempt, I wouldn't mind taking the task on myself.  Or, you can tell me to bugger off and I'll go back to doing my 16 times tables in my head.   :D

I like this idea.

It would be interesting to see what we come up with.

Besides, I like to play with numbers too.

All can post their lists at will. This was from back when 3484854 people wanted to post their lists at once. Since demand is low, this isn't a necessity. Now if 3 or more people do a list at once, we could start this waiting list back up, but for now... there's no wait.

Sorry guys. I didn't want to bump a year old thread but I wasn't sure what to do. Thought it would be good etiquette to request to do it rather than just start a new thread.

What amazes me is how you even have the patience to sift through a year's worth of threads to find this.

I started a separate thread for my own top 50 list. I wish I had known about this one.
Anyway, I'm posting my list here, but I might still finish it on the other one.
I'm not doing a countdown, because my list isn't "50th-best-to-1st-best," or anything like that.
The songs are more or less in both chronological and alphabetical order.

17) "LiveTime" version of Trial of Tears
18) Overture 1928
19) One Last Time
20) The Spirit Carries On
21) "Lives Scenes" version of The Dance of Eternity
22) "Live Scenes" version of Finally Free
23) "Live Scenes" version of The Silent Man
24) "Live Scenes" version of Learning to Live

How do I submit my list to the right thread?

Can what I already posted just be transferred?

What amazes me is how you even have the patience to sift through a year's worth of threads to find this.
I've been lurking here for five weeks now I reckon. Confession time, I've only been into Dream Theater for a year now but my obsession can only be compared to the obsession with a certain British three piece rock band known as Muse. That very band were my favourite from the first time I have seen then live. DT have now become my second favourite and when I finally get to see them live I am sure they will go to number one. There are a few things that I love about this band but I'll go into more detail about that when I start my top fifty thread.

I basically signed up to do one if these top fifties and then rather than start a thread I thought I should post here to be polite. I had it saved in my favourites from when I was lurking. So in answer to your question I didn't have to sift through a years worth of posts tidied this one. It was sort of already there got me.

Within the next few days I'll get started on my top fifty. It will be fan boyish, incredibly detailed (I cannot shut up when talking about things I am passionate about)  and like all top fifties, rife with controversy.

I just finished and posted my top 50 list, so whenever you get around to it...

This is yet another of many, MANY examples of you failing to read and/or follow very simple instructions, which in turn lead to you cluttering up the forum with more unnecessary garbage.  Either learn to read and follow instructions or you will be banned from the forum.  Consider this an official warning.
