So before the main survivor begins on Monday, I'm gonna run a few quick polls beforehand to get everyone in the mood.

First, what is your favourite album from the 1970s?

A Farewell to Kings for me.

Can't beat 2112 for me, but Kings was close behind.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

A Farewell to Kings.  Hands down.  My #3 album of all-time.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

2112

It's almost tied with Hemispheres, though.

Hemispheres, but it easily could've been AFTK, too.

Hemispheres, but it's pretty close.  AFTK would be my choice on some days probably.  2112 is not close though, because too many songs on Side B bring it down.

2112. A Farewell to Kings might have won, but I've only had it for a few weeks, so I don't know if I can really form a proper opinion on it yet.

I really like Alex Lifeson's guitar tone of A Farewell to Kings.

Today, it's Hemispheres.  Tomorrow, it could either be 2112 or A Farewell to Kings.

Haven't heard Caress of Steel, but I don't think that it can be better than Hemispheres.

Fountain of Lamneth is great, you just have to be in a more chill mood for it.  I love Bacchus Plateau, Panacea, No One at the Bridge... But they're slower tempo songs.  They're great songs, nonetheless.  I admit I reach for them less often, but that doesn't mean they're not good.  Give them another listen and tell me you don't appreciate them for what they are.

I actually like Geddy's bass tone on AFTK, my favorite of all their albums.

Funny, I end up defending All the other albums, when I voted for Hemispheres.

Listening to Caress of Steel really shows the evolution of the band as they made 2112. Plus, Caress of Steel has always been kind of a rainy day album to me. I remember the day I bought it: rainy, windy. I put the CD in my car as I drove away from the record store and got some beef tamales. Yeah, the album is kind of like that. :lol
