They came from the UK version of the RR website.  I played both the US and UK videos at the exact same time and the only difference is these images at 2:05.  There are just short clips of JP and JR on the US version.  It's like they watched the video for the UK version and said "we really should remove the whiteboard shots" and then recut the video when they released it on the US side.

As Another_Won said, around 2:05.

Woah, a lot has happened in the last couple of days! My thoughts:

Album name - fine by me. As some people have said, the most important thing is the music. If the band feel they want to make a bit of a statement with the album title, good for them, and I like the fact that they are so emotionally invested in it. I definitely prefer it to ADTOE, even if it does screw with our forum abbreviations!

The purple Majesty logo image - sorry, that just can't be the album cover, it looks so cheap. :lol If that was the album cover and the album was self-titled, if casual fans saw it in the shops they'd probably think it was fake.

That progress chart - DAT PROGRESS CHART. That's actually a brilliant find, as are all the other finds from those vids and pics posted. Genuinely fun to be getting all these little snippets, probably not on purpose, but it just fits so perfectly into what we're like as a community. :lol

I like the purple DT logo, and like I said it feels fresh. But I also hope it's not the entire album art. I just want the full artwork to be purple-themed like that image. The all-black-with-purple-logo-and-no-text thing could be on the box-set or something, I would be fine with that.

The chart makes me wonder if this was done in the usual "writing while recording" way. I mean I guess they implied as much in that press release video, but they never actually came out and said so.

I'd love to hear it. It's DT, so it's not going to be full on Latin-Latin, it will just be a little influence on their usual thing, like in an instrumental section. I think it will be fun to hear.

I completely forgot, but there's a good chance there might be more electronic/dance music on DT12, moments on BMU, BMD, Outcry, and BAI is anything to go by.

So I just read the last 20 pages of this thread. Quite dizzying, and awesome.

Don't mind the album title/artwork--though I'll reserve judgment on the latter until we get something more fleshed-out. I like the number of tracks, and am hoping "Epic" is really an epic. Wouldn't it be funny if that was just an ironic title and it's actually a Wither sort of song? Wouldn't put it past the guys.

Also interested that there might be a lot of piano and that JP has leads on every track and Jordan has only 3 solos (or, at least, solos in only 3 songs). All of those sound good to me--always been a big fan of Jordan's piano work, though not so much his soloing (though I find his solos seem to be getting a bit better over time).

I'm guessing "Sprinkles" represents all of Jordan's nontraditional instruments.

I love the Wiki entry for the album. "Opening. YARGGG." That just screams Wiki vandalism...except it isn't. Love it.
Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

There's already a pseudo-latin segment in In The Name Of God. But yeah, it's not full on Latin music.

I just really want to know how anybody comes up with "Dolphin Safe" as even a working title for something. How do those words even come together in a thought?

Dolphin Safe refers to tuna that has been caught in nets that Dolphins will not get stuck in.

You can see it on the side of tins of tuna etc etc...

EDIT: MORE IMPORTANT - HAS ANYONE NOTICE THESE CHORDS?!

Sounds like a ballad to me, a bit like Wither but that's possibly just because I'm playing it at that sort of tempo and in 4/4.
“I think it's really tragic when people get serious about stuff. It's such an absurdity to take anything really seriously ... I make an honest attempt not to take anything seriously: I worked that attitude out about the time I was eighteen, I mean, what does it all mean when you get right down to it, what's the story here? Being alive is so weird.”

A short instrumental (or otherwise) opening track does not mean it has to be a concept album! But it can make for a great way to set the overall toooone for the album, and create a cohesive album experience, which I'd consider pretty important given the nature of the album so far.

Journey - Evolution
Man, the opener of that album, "Majestic", remains one of my favorite Journey tracks ever.

Couple of years ago, when my daughter's marching band did a Journey show, they used that as their opener before going on to their better known hits.  Awesome.

:metal That is all kinds of awesome, although I can't imagine it arranged for a marching band.

It was great in that context, although it didn't have the raw power of Schon's guitars.  Plus their band was kind of small; it would be totally amazing with a larger band.  But it was great.

I know, and I agree with you. I just don't want another concept album. Honestly, the concept is, like, the worst part of SFAM there are many songs on there that really only work in the context of the album and the concept, but since I don't like the concept, that drags down SFAM quite a few placements for me. I don't want that to happen with DT12.
