Rules
I will score you a maximum of 10 points each round. On themed rounds you will be scored a maximum of 6 points on song quality and the remaining 4 will be given towards round theme relevance. On open rounds there will be no round relevance category, so up to the full 10 points will be given for song quality.

I will generally accept only YouTube and Spotify links. No MP3s please. If you can’t find your song on YouTube, then check Spotify. If you can’t find it there, contact me via PM and we’ll work something out.
You can send only 1 song per round. If I have heard the song you first submit, then I will give you only one more chance to submit a song that I don’t know for that round. If you can’t manage that, you will not receive a score that round. In the rare case (yes, it has happened) that two people submit the same song in one round, the person that sends me that song first (according to forum clocks, USA EST) will get scored on it. The other person will get another chance to submit a song.

Round 1 is an OPEN round

The deadline is Wednesday the 19th of December at 23:59. Cool? Cool.

I don't really have a preference of song length, but I'd suggest you keep it under 10 minutes. Also, I apologize in advance for my unresponsiveness. I am a high school student and this week is the last before my break, so I may not have time to post results in a timely manner until after X-Mas.

BRING IT.

I only listen to electro-post dubprog.  You've probably never heard of it.

I do not see ANY point in bumping a thread like this one after only just over 12 hours of non-activity. There's even less point in bumping it after that. Threads don't really disappear from DTF's front page, they remain there for a couple of days, so why should you get them to the top?

Round 1 Results!!

Great first round, guys.

Lolzeez: Ayeron – Day Two: Isolation
Incredibly interesting and proggy piece of music. Part of a concept album, I assume? Anyway, but Ayeron just sounds like a pretty generic prog rock/metal band. I did like the trade off singing which was used pretty well in this song but can butcher others. Unfortunately, that was pretty much the only thing I liked apart from the heavy guitar parts. This song didn’t really do that much for me. 4/10

YtseBitsySpider: Times Of Grace – Live In Love
I enjoyed this song enough, the verses with the harsh vocals were definitely the high point. But the clean vocals by the lead singer weren’t the best thing ever, in fact, I liked the backup singer’s (Glasses guy) clean vocals a lot more than the lead singer’s. But that aside, it’s a pretty generic metal tune, and not that outstanding to listen to, and doesn’t prompt me to check out any of this band’s other music. 4.5/10

Crazyaga: Jeff Buckely – Mojo Pin
I thought the song was cool for the most part, but there really wasn’t much to it. However, I especially liked the heavy part near the end, which really stood out and was really cool. The vocals weren’t all that great though, his voice seemed a bit too ‘breathy’ to me. Decent submission. Nothing really makes it for me, but nothing breaks it either. 5/10

PuffyPat: The Mars Volta – Cotopaxi
This song was pretty good, and pretty damn complicated, one of the most technically advanced songs sent to me this round. I definitely liked this song because of that. The vocals were also pretty sweet, this singer has a great range. His voice did seem to get whiny at some points though. Good submission. 6/10

Nekov: Dredg – Ode To The Sun
I’ve heard of this band before but never got around to checking them out. This song is good. They sound fairly similar to Fair To Midland, which was cool. The song didn’t really catch my attention all that much, but I still enjoyed listening to it. Good submission. I will probably also be checking out some Dredg in the future because I liked some of the other tracks on the album, but this track isn’t incredibly remarkable. 6/10

Heretic: The Mayan Factor – Jack Nicholson
This is a pretty mellow piece of music, but if you listen to the lyrics, they’re really depressing and, I have to admit, a little creepy. Great mellow guitar work on this one and I really liked the vocals. Once the drums came in, it was pretty confusing and mixed up because my mind couldn’t tell whether the feel was supposed to be a waltz or not, and it’s still hard to tell, but that is something I loved about this piece. Great submission! I also listened to some of their other stuff and quite enjoyed it, so I’ll add these guys to my list of bands to check out. 7/10

Elite: Devin Townsend – Kingdom
I’ve actually tried to check out Devin in the past, but nothing ever did it for me. This song is definitely an exception, however. The vocals are soaring, the music is really really heavy, which is awesome and always a plus. I especially like the “hey, hey” part at the start, and when he starts to sing deeper and more toward a mix between a clean vocal and a growl, it just adds so much. Awesome. I will most definitely be checking out more of his work in the future. 9/10

Scorpion: Diablo Swing Orchestra – A Tap Dancer’s Dillema.
Excellent submission! I don’t know if you guys know this but as a youtube user mentioned in the comments, this is a loose arrangement/remix of “Sing, Sing, Sing,” which is an old swing tune. Add the guitars and the excellent vocals, you get this great piece of music. I especially loved the drumbeat at the start, the “how low can you go” vocal line, and the trombones and brass in general are a nice touch. Also, the bass playing is insane! There isn’t really anything I didn’t like about this piece. 10/10

If anyone wants to check out “Sing, Sing, Sing,” I’d highly recommend it, as there is an extremely commendable drum solo in the middle.

Overall a pretty good round, I’m pretty impressed.

Point Standings
Scorpion: 10
Elite: 9
Heretic: 7
Nekov: 6
PuffyPat: 6
Crazyaga: 5
YtseBitsySpider: 4.5
Lolzeez: 4

Congrats to everyone for sending music. Try to send your music by the deadline next time. Oh, and make me happy.

Round 2 theme:
Winter
It sure doesn't feel like winter where I am, so send me songs that make me feel like winter. Gogogogo.

Deadline is Sunday at some time of day. I have no idea when. Just send your songs in by sunday or I actually will disqualify someone for this round.
If I had to pick a time when your results would be in, I would say wednesday of next week.

Finally a roulette where I'm off to a good start! :victorydance:

Hm... a wintery song? Damn, I don't really have music for certain moods. I'll have to do some digging...

EDIT: Not sure how this will fare, but since my gut feeling landed me a high score in the first round, I'll send it anyway.
